Not too much to complain about this weekend for the guys involved with Straight Outta Compton!

That's because the biopic from Universal Pictures destroyed the box office, taking in more than $56.1 million in its debut weekend!

Considering that the F. Gary Gray-directed film only took $29 million to produce, that is called WINNING!!

Not all films were that lucky, though… The Man From U.N.C.L.E. opened up this weekend, too, and despite costing more than $80 million to bring to life, it only took in $13.5 million over the weekend. Oops!

What about U — did U see either of the new releases out this weekend?? What'd you think of them?!

Mission Impossible Reigns Supreme, But What's Up With Vacation?! We've Got All The Weekend Box Office Deets HERE!

no title

It was a great weekend for Tom Cruise and the gang around Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation!

That's because not only did the movie open up at number one on the mid-summer weekend, it also did $56 million over the three-day period. That's better than many had predicted, and matches up favorably with 2011's Ghost Protocol as far as the franchise goes.

The film, released in about 3,400 theaters, sat comfortably in the number one slot thanks in part to few other major releases going out over the past several days. One notable exception to the lack of major releases, though, was the new flick Vacation.

The sequel to National Lampoon's classic Vacation installment in 1983 did only

Janet Jackson Getting Her Producer On! Signs Deal With Lionsgate

janet jackson signs production deal with lionsgate

After starring in three Tyler Perry films for Lionsgate, Janet Jackson seems to have proved herself to the company…so much so that they've signed a production deal with her.

That's right, folks! Janet Jackson has signed a deal "to select, develop and produce a feature film" for Lionsgate.

Here's what she had to say about it:

“Many people forget I started out as an actor. I have been fortunate to work in the film industry, though not as much as I would like. I have a passion for storytelling, and have been doing it through my music for some time.”

Here's what Lionsgate president of motion picture production and development Mike Paseornek had to say about Janet:

“She is a powerful on-screen presence, with a vast audience, and we believe she will be an equally powerful presence behind the scenes. We are honored to be able to provide a home for her ideas, passion and immense talent.”

Congratulations, Janet! We're proud of you, and we'll look forward to seeing what film project you choose to put together for Lionsgate.

Do U think Janet will make a good movie producer?

Corey Feldman Furious That Corey Haim Was Snubbed From Oscars In Memoriam Segment

Filed under: Icky Icky PooSad SadCorey FeldmanOscars

corey feldman pissed that corey haim was snubbed from oscars memoriam

Looks like we're hearing quite a bit from Corey Feldman lately.

Yesterday, we heard the positive news that Feldman has got some more work on the horizon, and now we're hearing some less-than-positive reports that he's pissed because Corey Haim was snubbed from the Oscars' In Memoriam segment.

Here's what Feldman had to say about it:

"Corey's films have earned the industry over a half a billion dollars and his work remains an inspiration to young artists world wide…Corey dedicated his life to the film industry. The same industry that failed to dedicate even 30 seconds to his memory."

Here's a statement that the Academy sent out in response:

"Whatever the length of the sequence, there will always be fans and family members of those not included who will be disappointed by their omission. The Academy extends its understanding and its apologies to those who missed seeing a favorite face in this year’s feature."

We understand that they won't be able to fit everyone into each year's In Memoriam, but they could have given Corey a place on there. He was a well known talent who died way before his time, and it would have been nice for him to be included.

50 Cent Joins The Film Biz, Starts A Production Company

50 cent starts production company

Looks like acting wasn't enough for Fiddy!

After starring in films such as Twelve, Righteous Kill, and Get Rich Or Die Tryin', 50 Cent has decided to get more involved with movies behind the scenes with his new prod company Mayweather Productions.

Here's what Fiddy's partner in his new venture, Floyd Mayweather Jr., had to say about the prod company:

"We're going to do what we normally do: sit in a room and brainstorm and try to come up with new ideas … you know, outside the box. Be creative and just work together and try to be positive. That's the main thing. It's about working hard, being positive and working together."

We're not 100% sure how we feel about 50 Cent being in charge of an entire production company, but who knows? Maybe the first movie his company releases will surprise us.

Do U think 50 Cent belongs in the film industry? Or Should he stick to music and headphones?
