Cafeteria worker Finis Gaston's day went from awesome to even MORE awesome!

During lunch time at Baker School, Ty Pennington of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition appeared in his cafeteria, bullhorn and all. Here's what Gaston had to say about it:

“I almost threw up."

Two colleagues of Gaston had submitted a video of the Baker man's home to Extreme Makeover producers the year before, and producers had been in contact on and off, but this still came as a shock to everyone.

Here's what a 7th grader Brittany Anderson had to say about it:

“We saw the camera crew come in the cafeteria and thought they were just going to interview him again. Then Ty ran in and everybody started screaming. Finis was in shock and everything.”

But what was the real suprise? The show's big bus rolled up to the school and out came the one and only Mariah Carey!

Finis Gaston was floored by all of this, and was even more excited about the possibility of getting an improved living situation for his family, including his niece and nephews, whom he's raised since both his sisters were involved in a fatal car wreck.

Gaston left college to raise the children, and had been living in a home with many vital repairs needed, but now, he's getting offered a new job in Pensacola, where the producers of Extreme Makeover are setting him up with a new house.

Here's what Gaston had to say about it:

“I feel everything I’ve prayed for is going my way. I’ve been on my knees a lot of nights praying everything will go our way for my family.”

We're happy for you Gaston, and we think it's AWESOME that Mariah made an appearance at your school in Baker to break the amazing news!
