Dozens of firefighters had to be called to the scene of a 63-year-old man’s home after he fell and became stuck for more than 24 hours!

It wasn’t until after being on the ground, unable to move, for an entire day that the morbidly obese man called his best friend, Don Estess, for help. Rescue crews arrived soon after but were met with a challenge: how to get the 500-lbs patient out of his house!

According to officials, the inside of his home was filled with clutter which made moving him out the front door impossible. The plan then became to demolish an entire WALL on his house, lay down wooden plank boards and transport him on a special stretcher into the ambulance!

Palm Beach County Fire Captain Albert Borroto explained how his team is trained for this operation, saying:

building collapse new york city fire explosion

Oh no!

Firefighters are on the scene at a building collapse in New York City.

A six-story building on 116th Street in East Harlem, between Madison and Park, has reportedly partially collapsed in a three-alarm fire.

Witnesses are reporting a large explosion that blew out the windows as the street became engulfed in smoke.

No official word yet on the cause of the fire, but we do know that the building housed a Spanish Christian Church and piano repair shop. Right now the FDNY is still working on putting out the blaze, with 168 members from 39 units responding.

So far only minor injuries reported; for now we pray that holds.

ronald mcdonald fired employee edit

Ba-da-ba-ba-ba! I’m lovin’ it! You’re fired!!!

That's what 8-year McDonald's employee Heather Levia heard when she showed up at work this week! The fast food giant terminated the 23-year-old single mother of twins after she bought food for some local firefighters!

As a morning shift manager, Heather thought she could help show her appreciation for a group of firefighters who had been battling a house fire in sub-zero temperatures! When they came into her restaurant, she offered to buy them breakfast!

The crew ordered 25 sandwiches and hash browns that all came out to a bill of $83. But it was Heather who picked up the tab with her own money!

Soon after, another department ordered $70 worth of food so the hardworking woman sent her boss a text asking if the company could pick up the check on this order. Free food for police and fire workers was common practice at her restaurant, according to Heather.

Her boss, however, refused!

Heather even went so far as to call the corporate office to ask permission but the answer was still no!

So, Heather and her co-workers paid

A Christmas Story is not only a brilliant movie, but it also has timeless advice!

Like be careful with a BB gun or you might shoot your eye out!

But, the most essential piece of knowledge it dropped was to never stick your tongue to a pole when the weather is freezing.

However, an Easthampton, Massachusetts middle school student was either not aware of this cardinal rule or he was trying to copy that famous scene as he had to be rescued by firefighters last Wednesday around 8am after his tongue got stuck to a pole!

Luckily the child AND his tongue are in good shape!
