Firefighters in Atlanta don't just put out burning buildings or pull cats out of trees.

They also save ducklings!!

Apparently, a mother duck was going crazy after her ducklings fell down a storm drain, and a PETA member called the fire department.

The firemen sprung into action, arriving at the scene, removing the grate, climbing down and rescuing all 8 baby ducks!

When a kid refuses to get out during adult swim, you deflate their water wings (right?). When a horse refuses to leave you ask nicely call the fire department.

This sneaky Floridian horse thought it would be a fun to skinny dip in his neighbor's pool — and never get out.

Three county firefighters who had taken an animal-rescue course happened to be available this morning to rescue the moody mare.

Firefighters brought in a tow truck typically used to haul disabled fire engines.

They placed straps under the belly of the 7-foot-tall, 1,500-pound horse and used the truck as an improvised crane to lift the animal from the water.

Poor Guy!

Mr. Higgins, the blind and arthritic horse, is one lucky fello!

The 31-year-old horse fell over a hillside in Penn Township, Westmoreland County, was rescued early Tuesday evening.

But the horse is so beloved that his owners, the county's animal rescue team, and firefighters all rushed to help get Mr. Higgins back on his horse shoes!

The animal was so far over a hill that crane with an attached sling was needed to pull it to safety.

The rescue effort lasted about an hour. And dear Mr. Higgins is back in action… kinda.

Amazballs!

Sorry Lassie, but there's a new hero in town — and it's a pit bull!

A man escaped injury from his burning mobile home Tuesday after his pit bull woke him up him, fire officials said.

The trailer was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived, Spring Bay volunteer fire Chief Dennis Perry said.

The homeowner, Ralph Cody, says he had fallen asleep with a lit cigarette but that his dog woke him up, allowing him to escape.
