Threatening clowns are moving out of the woods and onto the web.
Multiple Alabama schools were on lockdown last week after a series of Facebook posts from users posing as clowns threatened students with violence.
Messages from the group "Flomo Klown" warned children that clowns may show up at two Birmingham-area schools and cause harm.
After police investigated, a 22-year-old Alabama woman and one unnamed juvenile were found to be behind the Facebook group.
On Monday, Makayla Smith was arrested and charged with making a terrorist threat for using the Flomo Klown account, as well as another account called "Shoota Cllown" — both of which sent disturbing images and violent threats to students at Flomaton High School:
