First Trailer For Loving Shows The Fight For Interracial Marriage — Plus 9 Other Movies Already Getting Oscar Buzz!

Love wins… historically speaking.

Focus Features dropped the trailer for the upcoming film Loving on Tuesday, which tells the real-life story of an interracial couple's courage and commitment to live as a family.

Joel Edgerton and Ruth Negga star as Richard and Mildred Loving, a Virginia couple who were arrested in 1959 and sentenced to a year in prison for their interracial marriage.

The couple's nine-year fight for the right to marry led to their civil rights case (Loving v. Virginia) going all the way to the Supreme Court, which ultimately ended all race-based marriage restrictions in the U.S.

Taking Cannes by storm, the Jeff Nichols directed film is already getting major Oscar buzz — but this civil rights love story isn't the only film that could score a nomination from the Academy.

Ch-ch-check out the trailer for Loving (above) and see what other films are getting Oscar buzz (below)!

Mark Wahlberg Almost DOMINATED 50 Shades!

Aww sorry boo! We would so LOVE a 50 Shades flick set in Boston, where Christian Grey is a dirty cop whom Anastasia Steele sexually embeds herself with for a bust!

Ha!

But seriously, before 50 Shades of Grey satisfied so many oppressed Mommys, Mark Wahlberg’s production company basically had the film rights tightly tied up…

Mark recently shared:

"We were very close to getting the rights, we were talking with the writer before she had an agent.I just knew that it was going to be a phenomenon, whether I thought it was good, bad or indifferent. It was definitely going to be one of those things that would create a huge buzz"

But then the erotic fan fiction blew its load and became a pulsating, giant success, and studios were whipped into a feverish frenzy to secure the film rights!

In the end, Universal & Focus Features enjoyed the ULTIMATE post coital glow victory.

But WHO will play the notorious novel’s sexy leads?! WE MUST KNOW.
