Pinkberry Sold Simpsons Co-Creator Sam Simon Faulty Property?

Sam Simon Lawwsuit against Pinkberry

Wow, we may have to boycott Pinkberry after this news!

Sam Simon, co-creator of The Simpsons, is taking Pinkberry to court after he says they intentionally sold him a property he planned on using as a non-profit food bank that WASN'T permitted for food product operations!

After realtors SWORE it was permitted for such use, Simon purchased the building for $1.2 million because of amenities for his cause like the food prep area and walk-in freezer.

As it turned out, his new property was only licensed as an "auto repair garage", not food service. In fact, Pinkberry never even obtained proper plumbing, mechanical, and electrical permits!

In retaliation, Sam is suing all alleged guilty parties involved including his realtor, Pinkberry co-founder Shelly Hwang, AND the company through which Pinkberry does business.

It's such a shame Sam even has to go through all of this when he just wanted to improve the lives of the less fortunate!

UPDATE: A rep for Pinkberry reveals to FitPerez.com:

"Pinkberry has nothing to do with the entity that sold the building to Simon. Pinkberry is not named as a defendant in the lawsuit, and was not an owner or a tenant in the building when it was sold. Pinkberry was not involved in any of the negotiations or the sale of the building.

What is even more concerning is that the story focuses on an "anti-charity" angle, when the truth is that Pinkberry and its people are strong supporters of charities, including the very sort of food bank charity that Mr. Simon generously supports."

Demand For Food Rising While Donations Are Falling

Demand For Food Rising While Donations Are Falling

In case you’ve missed the endless news coverage of it, our economy is still in shambles, and people across the country are struggling to put food on the table.

Places like Salvation Army normally pick up the slack and give food to families in need. Unfortunately, due to a decrease in food and money donations and increase in demand, they’re running low on food.

Said Major Darryl Leedom, the Salvation Army's regional commander for Minneapolis and St. Paul:

"Here in Minnesota we have the new poor, the working poor, the underemployed, the unemployed — it's a dynamic shift in the population of people coming in. Many of those individuals have already exhausted their savings and financial support from friends and family, so it took them a while before they found it necessary to come in for food assistance."

Food banks across the country are struggling to keep up with the increase in demand.

If you are able, DONATE to a local food bank! Find out how you can help by going here. We are all in this together — help out a neighbor in need!

Food Bank In Gabrielle Gifford’s District Receives $18,000 In Seven Hours

Food Bank In Gabrielle Gifford’s District Receives $18,000 In Seven Hours

It’s amazing and humbling to see the deep empathy the country exudes after a tragedy.

After representative Gabrielle Gifford’s husband mentioned the name of the Community Food Bank in Tucson, Arizona in a statement, the charity saw a huge influx of donations — more than $18,000 in seven hours.

Bill Carnegie, the CEO of the food bank, says that donations mostly come from the local area but that the $18,000 came from all over the country.

Said Bill:

"They started at 8 a.m. this morning, and just keep pouring in from everywhere. Most donations are around $50, so you can imagine the number of phone calls and activity on our website that have been going on to generate $18,000."

Gifford has been a long-time supporter of the food bank and has helped raise money for it in the past.

Bill continued:

"She and her staffers came over here on December 18 and spent about two hours here thanking our staff and our volunteers for everything they were doing to help fight hunger. She's a really good friend, a longtime supporter, and we're just devastated."

This tragedy has been heartbreaking, but it's heartwarming to see this kind of outpour of support.

For those interested in donating to the Community Food Bank, here's their address and phone number:

Bieber Fans Doing Good!

In a contest thrown by Saskatoon radio station C95, Justin Bieber fans were desperate to win the Feed It To Bieber contest.

Whoever collected the most cans and packets of soup for the Saskatoon Food Bank won front row tickets and backstage passes to Justin's show at Credit Union Centre on Friday.

At the end of the contest, the food bank was loading up more 21,000 cans of soup.

C95 morning show co-host Ramblin' Dave Scharf said:

"Imagine a half-ton truck, the whole bed filled. There probably then would be 10 of those. 21,000 cans of soup later, you're just amazed at how much a part of the community C95 is, and how much our listeners are all kind of part of the same group and on the same team. It was a lot of fun."

The winners, Kelsey Salzsauler and Kayla Findlay, collected 2,507 cans and packs of soup while runner-up Cindy Madland brought in over 2,200.

"They just worked their behinds off and went door-to-door and asked for soup and/or money," added Scharf. "And what money they got, they bought soup."

Amazing. And now everyone is happy!

Enjoy the show, ladies.
