While the sports world took to Twitter to share their reactions and condolences, the tragedy impacted more than just the athletic community as Kim Kardashian West was apparently friends with Racquel. Seeing as how Smith played his entire career for the New Orleans Saints – the team the reality star's ex Reggie Bush also played for — it makes sense they might be pretty tight.

Kim tweeted out a pic taken with Racquel (above) with the following tweets:

Former NFL Star Will Smith Shot And Killed In Road Rage Incident

This is just horrible.

Will Smith, a former football star for the NFL's New Orleans Saints, has been shot and killed after an apparent case of road rage on Saturday night.

Smith and his wife were driving in New Orleans when they got into a fender bender with another driver.

The other driver confronted Smith, allegedly firing six to eight shots, according to witnesses, killing the ex-defensive end and seriously injuring his wife. The alleged shooter, Cardell Hayes, has been arrested and booked on charges of second-degree murder.

Smith's car was allegedly bumped from behind by another — presumably Hayes', though that's not yet clear — after which it rolled into a car ahead of his being driven by one of Smith's friends.

Our thoughts go out to Smith, his wife, and all their family, friends, and loved ones.

You tell 'em, Mikey!

Michael Sam originally found fame while playing College Football at the University of Missouri, so it would make sense that he feels connected to the Show-Me State.

Unfortunately for the out sportsman, the Show Me State is just the latest place in the US to try and pass a discriminatory Religious Freedom Bill SJR 39.

That means roughly 800 million (!) registered and non-registered users of the short-form message service will be able to see ten different Thursday night games throughout the fall — no catch, no cost, no subscription, just totally FREE!

This isn't the first time that the NFL has done this — last year, they took to Yahoo! to set up a free livestream for a game in London between the Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars — but it is the first time they are going to do so many games and give fans so much access with no broadcast rights up for grabs!

Football's commissioner, Roger Goodell, said of the decision to go to Twitter for Thursday night games:

Tom Brady's New Contract Comes With A $28 Million Signing Bonus AND Protection From Deflategate! Deets HERE!

Brady's making some big bucks!

Tom Brady isn't going anywhere.

The loyal New England Patriots quarterback signed a contract extension with his team through the 2019 season! The 38-year-old's new terms will also protect him from any potential penalty in the NFL's Deflategate appeal.

For both the 2016 and 2017 seasons, the pro's base salary will drop down to $1 million, which is a pretty steep decline from his previous rate of $9 million.

However, that's actually a good thing.

This way, if he does get a four-game suspension in the scandal's appeal — even though this astute seventh grader pretty much proved his innocence — he won't be losing as much money.

This Boston Globe reporter did the math so we don't have to! Take a look (below)!
