Wow! We had no idea this kind of thing even happened anymore!
We know science is always discovering new insect species and things like that and we totes understand.
Bugs are tiny, hard to spot and super gross, so we can see how there are so many more to discover.
But a mammal? A whole mammal??
That's right! The Olinguito looks like a small raccoon with the face of a teddy bear! It's so cute! How did no one recognize it earlier??
Basically, they're only just over a foot-long, live in the tops of trees in the mountainous woods of Ecuador and Colombia and are nocturnal. So they're not too easy to spot.
What's funny is one actually was at the Smithsonian-run National Zoo in Washington for a whole year, but its identity was mistaken! So funny!
Our favorite part is it's a carnivore but it eats mostly fruit! So it's compassionate too! LOLz!
