During a recent interview, Frank Darabont opened up about leaving AMC's The Walking Dead. He also spoke about his upcoming TNT adaptation of the video game book L.A. Noir!
Here's what Frank had to say about leaving Walking Dead:
Following Frank Darabont's shocking decision to step away as showrunner of the second season of his hit series, The Walking Dead, executive producer Glenn Mazzara has been announced as his successor in the position!
Guess we kind of knew he was a wild card after all that drama with the show's writing staff!
Despite the fact that show creator Frank Darabont was present at the Walking Dead Comic-Con panel on Friday, we're now hearing that he's stepping down as showrunner of the series.
He MAY stay on the show in some way/shape/form, but it looks like that is still TBD.
We're not 100% sure why he's leaving the show, but we've heard it could be that he had trouble adjusting to the TV world after spending so much time on features.
Hopefully AMC is able to find a satisfactory replacement. We'd hate to think that the show could fall by the wayside without Frank. Season Two was looking pret-ty intense! (above)
Back in December, sources close to the production of The Walking Dead revealed that executive producer Frank Darabont had fired the show's ENTIRE writing staff, and planned to keep it that way for the 13-episode second season, by relying on freelancers.
Now, Darabont has opened up about Walking Dead writer drama. Here's what he had to say about it:
This zombie could use a little makeup. We're thinking some foundation…and a shotgun to the head should do the trick. Ha!

Here's what Darabont had to say about being on-set once again for the show's second season:
"At this moment, I'm standing on a stretch of post-apocalypse interstate in Georgia, littered with abandoned cars and blessing my good luck to be reunited with our amazing cast, and our fantastic directors and crew. Across the board, there are none better. It's great to be shooting again. I think we've embarked on a great season."
