Conservative Writer Milo Yiannopoulos Banned From Twitter After Encouraging His Followers To Attack Leslie Jones On Social Media
Twitter is officially amping up security on harassment.
On Tuesday, the social media site permanently banned conservative writer and self-proclaimed "fabulous supervillain on the internet" Milo Yiannopoulos — in addition to other user accounts — for his role in the horrific online bullying of Leslie Jones.
In case you're not familiar, Milo was known by the handle @Nero and is the technology editor for Breitbart.com. He had over 338,000 followers before his account was deleted for seemingly racist and degrading tweets.
Just a side note, this is the guy who says "feminism is cancer" and "Rape Culture and Harry Potter: Both Fantasy." Sigh.
Anyway, as we reported, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey tweeted directly to Leslie on Monday in an effort put a stop to the racist harassment she was receiving — abuse that was being encouraged on Yiannopoulos' timeline.
