Taylor Farms Retail of California is voluntarily recalling 3,265 cases of bagged salads due to possible salmonella contamination.
The Food and Drug Administration announced the recall after a random test on a finished package of spinach by the Washington State Department of Agriculture turned up traces of the bacteria.
Be on the lookout for several salad blends under brands Fresh Selections, H-E-B, Marketside and Taylor Farms with a "best by" date between October 18 and 21.
According to the FDA, the recalled products were distributed in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Kentucky, Missouri, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and Puerto Rico.
Fortunately, no cases of infection have been reported, but salmonella can do serious damage to those with weak immune systems such as infants or the elderly. Symptoms can include fever, vomiting, diarhea, and abdominal pain.
Please play it safe and check any bagged salad that was purchased recently and any bagged salad under the brands listed above that may be purchased in the near future!
