It's just one devastating blow after another with this girl! She's breaking our hearts left and right! If we didn't love you so damn much Lea Michele, we swear….
Okay, okay. Let's focus here. Thing is, we were utterly elated to learn earlier this year that a revival of Funny Girl was to be back on Broadway by 2012. The musical that made Barbra Streisand a
star legend has always been a personal favorite of ours and it has been thrilling to see a new generation of kids learn to love it as well through Glee and Lea's powerhouse performances of some of the show's iconic songs. Naturally, since she basically put the show back on everyone's radar, we assumed she was the ONLY choice to breathe new life into Fanny Brice on the stage.
But alas, it's not happening. As we understand it, Lea will
A batch of songs have been released from next week's episode, entitled Funeral, including Princess Lea performing the Barbara Streisand classic ballad My Man from Funny Girl. Truthfully, we think this is one of her best performances yet…still not quite on par with Don't Rain On My Parade, but we don't think anything will ever compare to that for us.
Anyway, CLICK THE JUMP and you'll be transported to a world of pure imagination - literally. One of the numbers performed next week is an ensemble number of Pure Imagination, originated by Gene Wilder in Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory. Sound like a weird choice? Just wait! You have to hear what Chris Colfer does with it. Very pretty. Plus, there is a third track - Amber Riley singing Try A Little Tenderness by Otis Redding. Very cool!
Ch-ch-check them out!!!
We've got 36 expressions…and all of them are ECSTATIC!
It is with great pleasure and a deep sense of pure joy that we announce to you that Funny Girl is being revived for Broadway.
Not maybe, not someday…it's happening now!
Sources reveal that Jule Styne and Bob Merrill's beautifully created musical about the incomparable Fanny Brice, is slated to make its first official revival debut in 2012 in L.A. before making its way back to the Great White Way!
Tony Award winner Bartlett Sher will direct and from Jan. 15-Feb. 26, 2012, the show will run in previews at the Ahmanson Theatre as part of the Center Theatre Group's 2011-12 season.
The musical will officially open Feb. 1, 2012.
So, here's the million dollar question: Who will be the brave pip with piz-azz, with all the ginger and jazz, who will boldly step into the lead role of the show?
We know you are awfully busy, Lea Michele, but we think the show's calling your name!
When asked if she would ever consider doing the show at Friday night's MusiCares event where she was honored, Babs replied:
"Not if I can help it."
She added, "I have seen some of the episodes. My niece, my young niece saw Funny Girl on DVD and said, 'How come you're singing so many songs from Glee?'"
LOLz! Oh dear.
We bet this doesn't make Lea Michele too happy, who has said in the past that Babs is her idol. Although…Barbra did say that "she's pretty good." That's gotta be something, right?
What do U think of Barbra's response to appearing on Glee??

Breathtaking! Truly, a stunning photoshoot!
Sometimes its hard to remember how truly extraordinary Jennifer Aniston is. She keeps doing these stoopid movies that stop us from taking her seriously, but damn, now we remember why everyone fell in love with her to begin with.
Girl is flawless!
Jennifer is Harper's Bazaar's cover girl this month and for the shoot, she channeled one of the great woman of our time, Barbra Streisand, as inspiration. Taking her cues from Bab's iconic film Funny Girl, check out how fabulous Jen looks in these photos.
The show that made Barbra Streisand famous, Funny Girl, is being revived on Broadway.
Bartlet Sher will direct the six week out-of-town tryout in late 2011 in preparation for a quick Broadway transfer later in the season.
Rights owner and producer Bob Boyett said:
"I don't have any other details, or anything on locations…Nothing is really pulled together except Bart Sher. There have been a few Hollywood types who have expressed interest…but we're also open to going with an unknown actress."
So, Lea Michele?!
Can't wait to find out who they cast as the lead!
