Rihanna's been getting a lot of backlash from people since she released her Man Down video. Yeah, we get that it is controversial, but we still maintain that there is a larger message attached to the vid's graphic "murder" scene that a lot people are getting.

Someone who does get it is actress Gabrielle Union. In a slew of very personal tweets, Gabrielle revealed how as a survivor of rape, she understood the message RiRi was trying to convey with her video and also revealed that she actually tried to shoot her own rapist in the most horrific moment of her life. She confessed to her followers:

"Saw ‘Man Down’ by @rihanna. Every victim/survivor of rape is unique, including how they THINK they’d like justice 2 be handed out.

Stranger who robbed the store I worked at. He put his gun dwn durin the rape & asked me 2 [hand] it 2 him.

During my rape I tried 2 shoot my rapist, bt I missed. Over the yrs I realized tht killin my rapist would've added insult 2 injury. The DESIRE 2 kill someone whose abused/raped u is understandable, bt unless its self defense n the moment 2 save ur life, just ADDS 2 ur troubles #mandown."

Wow. Such an awful thing to have lived through. But, thankfully, she did live through it and now she does such wonderful, empowering work with rape crisis centers in this country. Really inspiring.

Glad to see you back on TV, girl!

Gabrielle Union has signed on to star in the Fox comedy pilot, Little In Common.

She will be joining cast members Rob Corddry and Paula Marshall and will play the matriarch in the Burlesons family. Her character is said to be a lobbyist who is determined to succeed.

She will star alongside Kevin Hart, her husband on the show.

The show sounds like it may have potential. We'll just have to tune in and find out!

Congratulations are in order!

Actress Gabrielle Union has been appointed a post on the National Advisory Committee for Violence Against Women by President Obama.

Her duties will entail meeting with committee members to share their ideas and expertise when it comes to crimes of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and dating violence against women.

Even though Gabrielle has been busying working in fashion and film, she says that this this most "fulfilling" job at the moment.

It's so great when celebrities can lend their voices to important causes.

We wish Gabrielle luck in her new job.

A judge in Illinois dismissed a lawsuit against Gabrielle Union this week by Siohvaughn Wade, ex-wife to Gabby's current BF, Dwayne Wade.

Siohvaughn accused Gabby of engaging in "sexual foreplay" in front of her kids with Dwayne, leaving the tiny tots "psychologically damaged."

From the beginning, Gabrielle and her team denied the accusations, calling the lawsuit a"waste of time" and claiming the matter was something that didn't "belong in the Illinois Court System." Apparently, the judge agreed.

Though there is still some major issues that need to be delved into, a Chicago judge granted NBA start Dwyane Wade his freedom this morning and ruled to officially end his 8-year marriage to high school sweetheart Siohvaughn Wade.

The pair still have to work out the details of some key issues including custody of the couple's two children and the division of marital assets, but Wade told the press he was "relieved" at the outcome of events.:

"This has been a long process and I hope we can all move forward… The most important thing to me right now is the next phase when the judge will decide on custody of our kids. That is the big event in my life that I am focused on.”

Well, congrats!

It's a job!

Actress Gabrielle Union has joined Lifetime's spin-off of Army Wives!

She'll play Detective Gina Holt, the partner of army wife Pamela played by Brigid Brannagh after she returns to her old job as an Atlanta cop following her divorce.

The spin-off is one of a few Lifetime development projects set in the South.
