Akira Film To Be Written By Daredevil Showrunner And Sons Of Anarchy Writing Alum! Get The Deets HERE!
It's about time!
It's being reported that Marco J. Ramirez, who is the co-showrunner for the second season of Daredevil on Netflix, and also wrote a couple episodes of the first season is going to be writing the long awaited adaptation of the manga classic, Akira.
It's also reported that Andrew Lazar, who most recently worked on American Sniper as well as Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way are producing the film!
The super popular manga comic, who's original run was in the '80s, follows two brothers who are in biker gangs set in a post-nuclear apocalypse of Neo-Tokyo. The brothers eventually find themselves rivals when one of them starts to abuse his newly developed telekinetic powers!
Warner Brothers has owned the rights to the comic since 2008 and it's almost come to fruition several times! Back in 2012, Garrett Hedlund, Kristen Stewart, Ken Watanabe and Helena Bonham Carter were all in talks to to star as various roles with Jaume Collet-Serra as director before the film fell through due to script and budget issues.
Ramirez has a solid history of work that varies from writing episodes of Sons of Anarchy, Orange is the New Black, Daredevil and Da Vinci's Demons — the last two projects, he also helped produce.
Are you excited to hear Akira is a step closer to becoming a real deal or what?!
