Well that didn't take long, did it?!?
Last week, we heard reports of Gary Ross' departure from the Hunger Games franchise only to later hear it was all a rumor.
But as it turns out, that rumor had more truth to it than someone was trying to show!!
The seasoned director released this statement on the whole ordeal:

Not so fast!
Reports circulated yesterday that Gary Ross, who directed the smash Hunger Games, had officially decided to step away from the film adaptation's follow-up, Catching Fire, but apparently, according to sources close to the production that nothing is, in fact, formalized - in fact, he's on a family vacation right now and hasn't made any decisions regarding his involvement!

Good riddance?
Guess that shaky camera work needed to go!
Gary Ross is a lovely, seasoned director but his approach to Hunger Games was a bit dizzying for some.
But don't think he got fired for it. Oh no, the headline U read is correct. Mr. Ross QUIT!
Not one to stay in the same place too long (like Foxface), especially when a studio can't agree on a pay raise, Gary decided to pack his bags and move on from the franchise to a new project sans Katniss & Co.
Farewell, Gary!! And may the odds be ever in your favor!!

Hunger Games has tallied over $363 million at the box office.
The top stars such as Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson are all signed for the sequel.
Seems like a no brainer to bring back the original director for this monster hit, no?
Wrong.
Sources say the director, Gary Ross, is seeking a significant bonus over the $3 million salary he had for Hunger Games, but Lionsgate has taken a hard like stance in the negotiation process.

It's been QUITE a day for Hunger Games fans!
Earlier today, we saw the new, super emotional HG tv spot…and we were pret-ty impressed.
Now, we've gotten a first look at the cover of this week's EW magazine (above), and we've got some behind-the-scenes blurbs from members of the cast/crew!
Here's what director Gary Ross had to say about the violence level of The Hunger Games:

This is one of our favorite characters from the series, and we're SO excited that such a legend in his own right is taking on the role in the film!
Lenny Kravitz recently opened up about taking on the role of Cinna, the stylist and quiet mentor of Jennifer Lawrence's character in the adaptation of The Hunger Games, and explains that he was immediately drawn to the role after reading the script for the film, directed by Gary Ross!
He explains:
