Modern Family Gay Kiss Is Underway!

Filed under: TV NewsGay Gay GayLGBT

And it seems it was planned before the controversy!

Modern Family's Cam (Eric Stonestreet) and Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) are gonna kiss.

Showrunner Steve Levitan said:

"We've had an episode planned for a long time that dealt with that subject of [Cameron and Mitchell's PDA]. So it almost bothers us that there was a little bit of controversy about it. Because we don't want to appear that we're answering that criticism. But sure enough, we're dealing with public displays of affection, and the power of a kiss. Seems simple, but intriguing—I hope."

And Stonestreet added:

"I think it's great that people care so much. I always am confused why they don't worry about shows that don't have any gay characters on them. They should put some focus on them as well, but we'll give the audience exactly what they need.

I mean, Ed and Sofia also never kiss but they seem to care more ‘cause we are the gay couple. But we're all proceeding and progressing and moving forward, there'll be lots of everything."

We can't wait!

X Factor Winner Comes Out!

Filed under: Gay Gay GaySimon CowellCherylJoe McElderryLGBT

X Factor winner Joe McElderry is gay!

Despite denying rumors in the past, the 19-year-old singer made the decision to come out, saying, "I'm really happy, I now know who I am."

Joe had previously insisted he was straight when asked by the media, but up until he three weeks ago, he didn't really the know the answer himself!

“Every time I was asked, I gave honest answers. I wasn’t attracted to anyone anyway, male or female. It never really entered my head I was gay. I’ve had time to think about things. I wasn’t attracted to anyone anyway, male or female. It never really entered my head I was gay. But I just know. It’s how I feel. I’m so happy. It’s all been so recent to be honest. Over the past couple of weeks I’ve had time to think and come to realize who I am. I have grown up a lot. I know it sounds crazy but before then, I was so busy. It hadn’t even crossed my mind.

I only told my mum last week, on a train. She was fine, great even. She’d actually asked us in the past, not because she thought I was gay but because she’s a supportive mum. She’d say, ‘I don’t care if you have a girlfriend or boyfriend’. My family have been so supportive.”

Joe also reveals that he's only kissed one boy, saying that he thought, " 'Oh, that’s weird, maybe that’s what happens.' I didn’t know what it meant. It was nothing serious, just a one-off thing. I’m single, I’ve not had a relationship with a boy, but I just know. It’s how I feel."

He even says that X Factor judges Simon Cowell and Cheryl Tweedy were completely supportive of his decision. And as for his fans, he says, “I’m not worried about how fans will react. They have always said they’ll back me no matter what. Everyone’s been really kind so I would like to thank them and your readers for all the support."

And we support you too, Joe! Congrats!

Welcome to the gayborhood!

Facebook Launches Modern Family Gay Kiss Campaign

Filed under: TV NewsGay Gay GayLGBT

Loves it!

Fans of the hit ABC show have taken to Facebook for the Let Cam & Mitchell kiss on Modern Family campaign.

Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who plays Mitchell Pritchett, is very supportive of the movement, but trusts that the smooch is in the writer's hands.

He said:

I'm all for progressive movement within the show. I appreciate the passion that some of the fans have. The fact that there is even a campaign on Facebook just shows how many people really love the show and the characters and want to see them happy. I think the writers are proceeding in a very wise way. There's a great PDA episode they're writing about Mitchell's issues with public displays of affection. Viewers shouldn't be expecting a big, 'Gone with the Wind' romantic kiss. It's very beautiful and poignant. The writers are so good, they're really taking that criticism and they're going to run with it and try and create a talking point with it.

Give the people what they want!
