VICTORY!!!!!

We're ECSTATIC to report that President Barack Obama has officially signed the repeal of the Don't Ask Don't Tell policy, which meant that gay and lesbians were not allowed to serve in the military openly, and will become effective September 20th!

He says in a statement:

"As Commander in Chief, I have always been confident that our dedicated men and women in uniform would transition to a new policy in an orderly manner that preserves unit cohesion, recruitment, retention and military effectiveness… As of September 20th, service members will no longer be forced to hide who they are in order to serve our country. Our military will no longer be deprived of the talents and skills of patriotic Americans just because they happen to be gay or lesbian. I want to thank all our men and women in uniform, including those who are gay or lesbian, for their professionalism and patriotism during this transition. Every American can be proud that our extraordinary troops and their families, like earlier generations that have adapted to other changes, will only grow stronger and remain the best fighting force in the world and a reflection of the values of justice and equality that the define us as Americans."

We couldn't have said it better ourself!

Such a proud day for Americans! Now, let's keep the equal rights coming!

We can be strong! Ride, ride, pony, ride, ride!

Sad news. We can't tell you how this break our hearts.

This morning, the Pentagon confirmed that several more service men and women have been discharged under “don’t ask, don’t tell.”

As the policy's repeal is still pending, these discharges will most likely stick, with one service member's discharge approval set to go into effect this Thursday. Pentagon spokeswoman Eileen Lainez

Pentagon Study In Favor Of 'Don't Ask Don't Tell' Repeal!

pentagon-study-group-finds-70-percent-of-military-in-favor-of-dont-ask-dont-tell-repeal

How will anyone be able to argue this?

Two people close to the upcoming report by a Pentagon study group regarding the repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell have come forward to reveal that according to the draft, the military can lift the ban on gay men and women serving their country openly with only MINIMAL and isolated incidents of risk to the current war!

The 370-page report continues that over 70% of the respondents - all active-duty and reserve troops - to a survey sent out by the group said that the effect of a repeal on DADT would be positive, mixed, or nonexistent!

Although the sources refused to give their names or position, they maintain that the reason that they came forward with the findings were to minimize those opposed to the ban manipulating and mischaracterizing the group's findings.

The full report will be handed over to President Obama on December 1st.

Although this is pretty much what we've known to be true all along, it's still FANTASTIC news!

The time for change is almost upon us! We sincerely pray that our President does not let us down!

'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' Policy Is Reinstated.

So incredibly disappointing.

A San Francisco federal appeals court has overturned Judge Virginia A. Phillips' injunction against 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell,' and has ruled that the military must keep the policy in place.

According to the 9th Circuit:

"a stay pending appeal would obviate the confusion and uncertainty that might be caused by temporary implementation of the district court's injunction, with the looming possibility that the statutory policy could be reinstated on appeal. Enjoining the operation of the statute before the appeal is concluded would create tremendous uncertainty about the status of servicemembers who may reveal their sexual orientation in reliance on the district court's decision and injunction."

They may have won the battle, but they have not won the war!

It's only a matter of time, people!

Military Recruiters Must Accept Gay Applicants!

Success!

Following the limited suspension of the "don't ask, don't tell" policy, recruiters have been informed that they MUST accept gay applicants starting this week!

A Pentagon spokeswoman confirmed this morning that top-level personnel have been alerted of the change and have been asked to act accordingly. However, they have also been given the go ahead to inform recruits that the moratorium could be reversed at any time, which hopefully won't happen.

If brave men and women want to serve, our military should be happy to have them, regardless of their personal lives.

We're making progress!
