George Takei is setting the record straight.

The Star Trek veteran got some backlash last week for not exactly approving the decision to depict Sulu as gay in Star Trek Beyond.

Though "delighted" there was an openly gay character in the Star Trek universe, the actor and LGBT activist said it was "really unfortunate" that the rebooted films altered the background of the original character.

After getting some heat from the cast, the 79-year-old took to Facebook to clarify his earlier comments, explaining why he wished the Star Trek films would have created a new gay character instead.

Zachary Quinto Responds To George Takei's Disappointment About Sulu Being Gay In Star Trek Beyond! Quote Of The Day!

"As a member of the LGBT community myself, I was disappointed by the fact that George was disappointed… I get it. He has had his own personal journey and has his own personal relationship with this character but, you know, as we established in the first Star Trek film in 2009, we've created an alternate universe, and my hope is that eventually George can be strengthened by the enormously positive response from especially young people who are heartened by and inspired by this really tasteful and beautiful portrayal of something that I think is gaining acceptance and inclusion in our societies across the world, and should be."

Huh?

On Thursday, John Cho revealed that his Star Trek character Sulu would be openly gay in the upcoming sequel Star Trek Beyond, a HUGE step as this will be the first gay character in the franchise's canon.

The change is meant as a nod to LGBT advocate George Takei, who played the pilot in the original series.

But Takei isn't exactly flattered over Sulu's sexuality swap, and even admitted he found the idea "really unfortunate."

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter on Thursday, the actor said the character development goes against creator Gene Roddenberry's original vision for Hikaru Sulu.

Back in September, we learned that The Simpsons would finally be letting Waylon Smithers (voiced by Harry Shearer), Mr. Burns trusty right-hand man, out of the closet sometime this season.

Well Sunday night, we FINALLY got the episode that addressed Smithers' love life!

In The Burns Cage, Homer, Lenny, & Carl hear their Springfield Power Plant boss's assistant singing to himself about his love of Mr. Burns — so they decide to try to get him laid, mostly to make him a more tolerable coworker!

It's a classic sitcom premise — the fact Smithers is gay isn't made shocking at all! We guess The Simpsons know what year it is! Ha!

After some failed attempts, Homer takes to Grindr to invite all of Springfield's gay citizens to a big party at the Simpsons' home, just for Smithers. Of course this was a great opportunity for a George Takei cameo as he asked suitors if:

It looks like The Academy is in hot water again!

Chris Rock did an AH-Mazing job of putting the organization on blast for its lack of diversity at the 2016 Oscars.

But during the ceremony, he still managed to tell some racially insensitive jokes himself that played with Asian stereotypes — and some people weren't laughing about it.

George Takei, Ang Lee, and Sandra Oh were some of 25 Academy members of Asian descent that sent a letter to the Academy protesting jokes about Asian's during the Oscars last month.

These old and lame jokes included Rock's skit that introduced three Asian children as Academy accountants, and an ad-libbed comment by Sacha Baron Cohen suggesting that Asians have small peens.

The letter asked for "concrete steps" to make sure that award shows will avoid the "tone-deaf approach" to Asians in the future. The letter states:
