The Cincinnati Zoo Is 'Not Amused' By All The Harambe Jokes On Social Media

no title

UPDATE, August 23, 1:01 P.M. ET: At some point on Monday evening, the Cincinnati Zoo deactivated their Twitter account.

The zoo offered reporters little by way of comment over the decision, but Twitter users noticed very quickly (below):

Furthermore, the Zoo Director Thane Maynard's Twitter account was hacked last night as well, according to reports.

Obviously, quite a tough time for the zoo on social media.

Though he may forever be remembered as a gorilla taken too soon in a tragic situation, Harambe has lived on… and on… and on… in Internet memes!

And now, the Cincinnati Zoo is NOT happy about it!

The late 17-year-old primate, killed back in May when a young boy crawled into his cage and zookeepers were forced to shoot the gorilla to protect the child, has turned into a social media phenomenon after his death.

Memes, photoshopped pictures, and all kinds of hashtag references have buoyed his memory, both satirically and sincerely.

But Thane Maynard, the director of the Cincinnati Zoo, is absolutely fed up with the references, telling reporters via email (below):

Actual Presidential Nominee Jill Stein Is Losing To 'Deez Nutz' In Polls — And Is Tied With Harambe The Gorilla

We're so glad the electoral process is being taken seriously…

While the 2016 Presidential election has effectively come down to a race between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, there are still some candidates who don't belong to either major party.

Unfortunately for said candidates… it doesn't look like Americans are paying them very much attention.

According to a survey released by Public Policy Polling on Tuesday, only 2 percent of voters would ever consider voting for Green Party nominee Jill Stein.

While that sounds bad enough on its own, that number ties Jill with

'RIP Taylor Swift' Mural Gets ANOTHER Facelift — Now It's Kanye West! And Another BIG Kim Kardashian Is About To Join Him…

This is too funny!!

Although the wild feud between Taylor Swift and Kanye West may have died down a bit — well, for now, at least — somebody is STILL fighting over Swift's "memorial" graffiti tag, and the changes continue to be hilarious!

If you remember from two days ago, an Australian street artist named LushSux created a "memorial" to Swift on a wall to commemorate her notable feud with Yeezy.

Then, on Thursday we told you that the mural had already been changed to a gorilla from SpongeBob SquarePants and a reference not to Swift or 'Ye, but to Harambe, the Cincinnati Zoo gorilla killed in May after a three-year-old boy fell into his cage.

Now the mural has been defaced AGAIN — and the new picture is absolutely ridiculous!!

Ch-ch-check out the Instagram shot LushSux posted informing the world that, yes, his mural has AGAIN been defaced and altered… this time, as a shrine to "Haramye"!!!

There's even a video of the re-do, and it's set — very appropriately — to the Yeezy song that kicked off the entire feud (below):

'RIP Taylor Swift' Mural Gets A Creepy Face Lift To Become An Actual Memorial For Harambe The Gorilla — And SpongeBob SquarePants?

Much better!

Earlier this week, Aussie street artist Lushsux shared an image of his faux "RIP Taylor Swift" mural that was made to memorialize the pop star's figurative death in the wake of her Famous feud with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.

Shortly after it blew up on social media, TayTay's team contacted the artist with threats of legal action if the mural wasn't swiftly removed.

While it looks like the request was already complied, we're not sure the songstress will be satisfied — because "Taylor Smith" has turned into the bizarre hybrid creature "Taylor Gorilla SquarePants."

On Thursday, the artist shared an image of the updated mural on Instagram featuring a cartoon gorilla face seen in SpongeBob SquarePants painted over Tay's face — with the caption changed to: "In loving memory of Harambe, 1988-2016."

Harambe the gorilla became a popular cultural reference earlier this year after being killed at the Cincinnati Zoo on May 28 when a young child fell into its enclosure.

This time, however, Lushsux isn't taking credit for the work.

In the caption of his post, the artist asked "WHO DID THIS?!?!" — but of course, that could just be his way of avoiding more legal threats from Team Swifty:

Rush Limbaugh's Response To Harambe The Gorilla's Shooting Is So Mind-Bogglingly Dumb, We Had To Share It

You ever hear something so stupid, you have to share it with everyone you know just to sort of disperse it? So you aren't taking the full brunt of the idiocy?

That's how we feel about Rush Limbaugh's response to the tragic death of Harambe the Gorilla.

The endangered animal was shot and killed by zookeepers to protect a 4-year-old child who fell into its enclosure.

So does the right-wing radio host go after the parents? The zoo? Animal rights activists??

Nope. He's angry at people who believe in evolution. He said on Tuesday:

Wrong Mom Attacked On Facebook Over The Death Of Harambe The Gorilla! See The Classy Way She Handled It!

After not paying close attention to her kid at the Cincinnati Zoo resulted in the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old gorilla, Michelle Gregg has become quite a controversial figure.

On Saturday, Gregg's unsupervised 4-year-old son fell into the enclosure of Harambe the silverback gorilla, who was shot and killed by zoo officials over concern for the child's safety.

While many understood this tragedy could have been prevented, some opinionated critics took it upon themselves to personally threaten the boy's mother on Facebook.

But in the typical fashion of the vociferous online community, the angry accusers didn't stop to make sure they were coming at the right mom with their pitchforks.

That's right — a totally unrelated Michelle Gregg has been receiving angry messages from people who didn't bother to check if they had the right person before firing off a string of hateful threats and ill-wishes.

While the real Gregg reportedly deleted her social media presence after defending her actions on Facebook, the other Gregg changed her profile picture to a photo of herself with her son, with large letters:
