gorillaz to release ipad album for free on christmas

The Gorillaz have been giving out all types of exclusive gifts on their virtual advent calendar on their website, but the best gift is yet to come!

Jamie Hewlett, a frequent collaborator with the group, has confirmed that a Gorillaz album, recorded entirely on iPad, will be released on Christmas morning as a FREE GIFT for fans.

Here's what Hewlett had to say about it:

"On Christmas Eve, a video for one of the new songs from the iPad album will be released. Then, on Christmas Day, fans get the whole album downloaded to their computer for free as a gift."

Here's what Gorillaz' Damon Albarn had to say about his feat:

"I literally made it on the road in America over a month. I didn't write it before; I didn't prepare it. I just did it day by day as a kind of diary of my experience in America."

Pretty impressive, Damon! We'll look forward to checking it out!

Are U excited for a free Gorillaz album?

Time To Stop Talking!

New Glee star Darren Criss recently opened up about his feelings toward bands like Gorillaz and Kings of Leon, who have publicly refused to allow their music to appear on the smash series, and he claims to be bewildered as to why it would be such an issue to them!

He explains:

"I'm a musician and I understand that; I don't think it's a bad thing. I just don't see why they feel the need to make it public. It seems as if [being part of the show] could be a negative thing, the connotation is that they're somehow cooler than 'Glee.' I think that's their choice, and there doesn't need to be any kind of malice created from it. They've got the music, they've got nothing to prove. They're great bands."

Hmm…he makes some very valid arguments, but…

We understand he's excited to be a part of such a popular series, but maybe it's time to talking to the press!

You're speaking out more than the full-time cast members, bb! Don't over-do it!

Talking about the follow-up to Plastic Beach, Albarn says, "I've made it on an iPad – I hope I'll be making the first record on an iPad," he said. "I fell in love with my iPad as soon as I got it, so I've made a completely different kind of record."

He adds that he plans to release the album "before Christmas."

Gorillaz Don't Want Their Songs On Glee

gorillaz wont allow glee to perform their songs on the show

Gorillaz may have created the Grammy-Award winning song Feel Good Inc., but they don't feel good at all about their songs being performed on Glee.

Here's what lead singer Damon Albarn had to say about Glee using their songs:

"We wouldn't let that happen. And not that they've asked us because they haven't, and now they definitely won't."

Albarn claims that shows like Glee showcase "a very poor substitute for the real thing.

More from Albarn:

"Those songs won't last like The Beatles by any stretch of their imagination. They'll be forgotten in a few years' time."

What do U think? Do Gorillaz make good points, or should they let Glee take a crack at Feel Good Inc?
