Nicole Richie is heading back to TV — but this time, her role won't be so simple!
The reality TV veteran has been cast to star in NBC's upcoming comedy Great News!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Richie is the latest casting change for the workplace comedy centering around a cable news network.
The 34-year-old will be playing Portia — the role originally played by Kimrie Lewis-Davis in the pilot — a young, hip cohost of The Breakdown, the fictional news show within the show.
With network wanting to go in a different direction for the role, Richie's character is described as part clueless idiot and part social media savant — so it sounds like she'll have no shortage of hilarious one liners.
Executive produced by Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, the show centers around mother-daughter relationship that is strained when an overbearing New Jersey mom (Andrea Martin) lands an internship at her daughter's (Briga Heelan) cable news network job.
Wow! This has all the ingredients of a hit show!
Are YOU excited for Nicole to show off her comedic chops?
