No, someone didn’t learn a spell from a Harry Potter book that can preserve ancient forests.
(Though we wish they did.)
The Harry Potter series of books totals 4,195 pages and million and million of copies of the book were sold, JK Rowling knew that that could seriously impact the environment.
In Canada, ancient forests with 800-year-old trees were being cut down to supply paper for books.
So she pushed the supply chain to protect ancient forests from loggers, and so over 700 of the largest paper purchasers in the world vowed to protect ancient forests and certify where they got their wood pulp.

UNT's bitch'n dinning hall is called "Mean Greens"! Cute right??
The Mean Greens page on the university website says:
“Vegan dining is not just for vegans but for all who seek to eat a balanced diet that offers a host of health benefits. In addition to tasting good and being good for you; vegan dining is sustainable and helps to reduce our carbon footprint which is good for the earth.”

Bold move PETA!
The animal rights group formally known as PETA has urged Pope Benedict XVI to "truly go green" and insist that the next popemobile is made without leather.
PETA said it has written to the pope with the request following the Vatican's confirmation Wednesday that Germany's Mercedes-Benz auto company is making a study of a hybrid, energy-saving popemobile.
The car would replace the current Mercedes vehicle used when the pope travels abroad.
The Vatican press office said Friday it hadn't seen the letter and couldn't comment.
Benedict has made conserving resources an important concern of his papacy, so there's a chance he might go along with it.

Here area some Tips on how to help limit your pet's carbon paw-print.
Your cats ability to use a litter box really gives them a leg up on dogs. But your cat's clay litter has has harsh chemicals that aren't biodegradable. Pine-based litters such as Feline Pine or Feline Fresh are biodegradable. Some can be used as compost or mulch, or just simply flushed away. For a greener and cheaper litter box, experiment with making your own. Some liners also are biodegradable.
If you’re really adventurous, try the Feline Evolution CatSeat Cat Toilet Training Seat. (Yes, it's an actual thing).
For birds and smaller animals, check for Green Pet products (greenpet.com) with the PureLite Process, which destroys mold spores and is biodegradable.
Not all bug busters are chemical.
The Anibio Tic-Clip repels fleas and ticks using an electromagnetic charge.
Garlic tablets may help your outdoor animal friends ward off fleas, ticks — and vampires — but check with your veterinarian to see which type would work best for your pet.
