The showdown between the Packers and the Falcons won the ratings on Sunday. And why wouldn't it? It was a good game and now the Packers are 5-0!!

The Green Bay Packers-Atlanta Falcons game (in which the undefeated Packers won 25-14) scored a 14.0 overnight rating. (Preliminary total viewers numbers will be available later Monday; national numbers will be released Tuesday.) The ratings were the best week 5 in the past six years. It was up 20 percent from last year's week five game, in which the Philadelphia Eagles faced off to the San Francisco 49ers to an 11.7 rating in the key 18-40 demo (19 household rating), and up 30 percent from 2009's week 5 game, which saw the Colts-Titans rate a 10.8 in the demo and 17 in household.

A 14.0 is nothing to laugh at. That's a pretty boss rating. And the fact that it's up 20% from last year is incredible too!

We wonder how long the Packers can keep up their undefeated record! Maybe… the entire season??

America must really love one of these teams. Saturdays telecast of the Green Bay Packers vs. Atlanta Falcons divisional matchup was FOX's most-watched telecast in its time slot in 15 years.

Some 30.8 million viewers tuned in, up 6 percent over 2009's Arizona-New Orleans game, to watch the Packers snatch victory out of the Falcons talons.

The last telecast to top it in the time slot was 1996's Green Bay vs. San Francisco matchup with 32 million viewers.

The NFC divisional matchup between the Chicago Bears and the Seattle Seahawks averaged 32.5 million viewers, but was down 13 percent from last year's 37.7 million viewers for the Dallas-Minnesota game, but up 2 percent from 2009's Eagles-Giants game which drew 31.4 million viewers.

The NFL has been making a fuss about excessively hard tackles this season due to the risk of injury associated with certain types of hits.

That’s why it was no surprise when Green Bay Packers safety Nick Collins was fined $50,000 after he laid out Dallas Cowboys receiver Roy Williams by hitting him on the back of the head during Sunday night’s game.

We think it’s a good idea to keep an eye on excessively hard tackles, because the entire game could suffer if players are always injured from getting knocked around a little too hard!
