The distance may not seem very impressive, but guinea pigs are terrible jumpers.

Unless the guinea pig is Truffles! The new Guinness World Record holder!

Truffles crushed the old record by almost 10cm by jumping a 30cm gap!

And the winner is… a guinea pig! And its owner.

Jooney Woodward, a photographer, took the picture of the girl and her pet and said about it:

"I found her image immediately striking with her long, red hair and white stewarding coat.

She is holding her own guinea pig called Gentleman Jack, named after the Jack Daniel's whisky box in which he was given to her. Using natural light from a skylight above, I took just three frames and this image was the first.

I don't mess around with Photoshop so what you see is what you get. Enhanced images can portray a false sense of reality, whereas my work celebrates the people and places as they appear every day."

The director of the National Portrait Gallery said the portrait was a:

"[…] brilliant, empathetic study of young woman."

The photo beat out over 6,000 other photos to claim the $19,000 first place prize.

It's a good photo but we just mainly like it for the giant guinea pig. LOLz!

A great idea!

There are many ways elementary school children benefit from pet companionship. Pets can teach compassion, responsibility and ignites curiosity and respect forabout animals and their habitats.

That's why PetSmart is GIVING AWAY (like, for free) animals to teachers who want them!

The pet retail chain is now offering a “Pets in the Classroom” grant for elementary (pre-K through 6th) grade teachers of both public and private schools. The program will cover all the expenses for a classroom specialty pet and habitat.

Grants are available in the following categories through your local PetSmart store: Hamster, Guinea Pig, Fish, Bearded Dragon and Leopard Gecko. So yeah, you can get a dragon in your classroom!

There is no excuses for ANY elementary school teacher not to get one!
