There really isn't anything seksier than a chiseled chin combined with a competent and caring brain!

That's why we find Ian Somerhalder to be undeniably gorgeous, since he's hotter than lava and actually cares about the world around him.

Ian has been an active celebrity voice for the people and animals affected by the Gulf oil spill and in a recent interview, he explained what he's doing on his end to help.

While offering his time and mind to those trying to find ways to fix the situation in the gulf, he is also looking for ways closer to home to reduce the need for oil. He recently joined a campaign called Go Green Mobile Power, a company that creates portable solar/wind/biodiesel generators for use on film sets and in the event industry to replace the "off-grid dirty energy that's traditionally used on location."

Ian explains:

"It takes a lot of power to run a movie set. We go through a lot of fuel.It's harmful, and we can start changing that a little bit. We can get rid of these noisy, stinky, disgusting gas generators. There's going to be a lot of thought that goes into this revolution that's going to happen. We're dealing with California Transportation Department, we're dealing with the Department of Defense, we're dealing with disaster relief — but we're also dealing with the entertainment industry. We'll be taking major productions green, like big concerts and music festivals. Greening the 'Vampire Diaries' set is a priority for me, which we're going to be doing this year."

Amazing! We're so proud of all he is doing! Many, many kudos to him for all his efforts to keep our world clean!

It’s rumored that he is interested in making a dramatic film about the BP Gulf Coast oil spill affecting Louisiana and surrounding states.

We wonder if this will make it to the big screen??

At least someone is doing something about this!

Last night, Larry King held a telethon on CNN to raise funds for three amazing charities who are providing aid in the Gulf. The spill has left a lot of people and wildlife stranded and the money that was raised last night will surely be put to good use.

Helping Larry out was a slew of celebs including Ryan Seacrest, Nicole Richie, Kathy Griffin, Ian Somerhalder, Chelsea Handler, Sam Trammell and Ke$ha! Look, she washed her face…sort of!

In total, the telethon raised over $1.3 million for the oil spill relief! Fantastic!

If you didn't donate last night, make sure to look into ways to help the relief effort in anyway you can. This spill is devastating and anything you can give or do will be much appreciated.

Bravo to the celebs who donated their time and talent to such an important cause!

Finally, someone had the BRILLIANT idea to organize a relief fund for the Gulf. Larry King is organizing a telethon to air on CNN on Monday, dubbed "Disaster in the Gulf: How You Can Help." The telethon will be a celebfest benefiting those left devastated by the spill.

And some of those celebs are HUGE!

Scheduled to appear on the fundraiser will be Justin Bieber, Chelsea Handler, Ryan Seacrest, Kathy Griffin, Cameron Diaz, Ian Somerhalder, Jenny McCarthy and many, many more.

You know what? It's not like anyone else has any better ideas! We say let him do it!

Yesterday, actor Kevin Coster stood in front of Congress to plead with them to consider his offer of vacuum-like machines that could help clean up the oil spill in the Gulf.

Congress came at him with a lot of criticism, focusing on him as an actor rather than a humanitarian, but Kevin fought back, bringing up the most important point of all. He said:

"We are all at fault here. It's just too easy to blame BP. What we need to do now is come together."

Exactly. Too much talking, not enough action.

Kevin then described the machines his firm, Ocean Therapy Solutions, has developed to separate oil from seawater. He admits that there are no guarantees it will work, but if enough devices were deployed on enough ships, it could a "partial solution."

That sounds better to us than no solution at all!

Of course, Congress tried to discredit him by questioning his sincerity to the cause. One representative suggested that he was only hocking the cleanup project for publicity. In response, Kevin explained how he dropped $20 million to develop the centrifuge devices with his scientist brother, Dan.

That's a lot of money to drop for the cover of People Magazine.

In the end, it seems while BP is willing to enter some contracts with Kevin, the government is not, citing the $1.5 trillion debt the USA is in as a factor.

Great, so while you all nickel and dime every thing, our oceans are going to shit!

No, you are totally right. This isn't worth funding at all! Saving our major water supply can wait.
