Harper Lee influenced many people throughout her long life.
So naturally, people are heartbroken to hear that the acclaimed author passed away at 89 years old. The To Kill A Mockingbird writer had quite an impressive impact on certain celebs, and they took to Twitter and Instagram to express their grief.

Stars like Reese Witherspoon, Uzo Aduba, and Ariel Winter all shared their sadness on social media, penning heartfelt tributes to the late novelist.

What awful news.
It's with the utmost sadness that we must report that legendary author Harper Lee has passed away at the age of 89.
The author of To Kill a Mockingbird died in her hometown of Monroeville, Alabama early Friday morning. The cause of death is currently unclear.
We do know Harper suffered a stroke back in 2007 but had fully recovered.

The Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist made headlines in 2015 after it was revealed that she was releasing a sequel to Mockingbird entitled Go Set a Watchman after more than half a century.
Sadly, there will never be another.
Rest in peace, Harper.

HarperCollins publishers revealed the book jacket for the highly anticipated Harper Lee book Go Set A Watchman, the sequel to her Pulitzer Prize Winning novel, To Kill A Mockingbird!!
For now, we can pretty much only judge the book by its cover — but we like what we see!
The yellow leaves gazing from above, and the approaching train evoke a feeling of both mystery and familiarity. The timeless style definitely sets a similar tone of the 50th anniversary book jacket for Mockingbird.

It wasn't an easy task choosing the cover for the upcoming novel. A rep from HarperCollins explained:

To Kill A Mockingbird is one of those novels so classic, so peerless, that it's sometimes hard to remember that it even had an author.
It only adds to that Great American Novel mythology that Harper Lee never published another book.
Well, all that is changing now.

55 years after the release of the original, the 88-year-old is releasing a sequel!
Don't expect Go Set A Watchman to be a modernization. The story of Scout Finch as an adult was actually written six decades ago!

Yet he still will find time to provide a special introduction for the 50th anniversary of To Kill A Mockingbird.
The 1962 film adaptation of Harper Lee's novel will be shown on the USA Network this Sunday at 8 pm.
The film stars Gregory Peck as a lawyer in a small Alabama town who defends an innocent black man accused of raping a white woman.
