The Weinstein Company's Blue Valentine has been given an NC-17, in a surprise move by the MPAA.
To cut steamy sex scenes or not to cut? That is the very difficult question.
On the one hand, NOBODY wants to censor some serious Ry-Ry/Michelle lovin', but on the other hand, movie theaters NEVER screen NC-17 movies. They tried it the other week with horror movie Hatchet 2, and that was given the axe after the first weekend of release!
The film's story is about a couple trying to save to save their troubled marriage. Why the NC-17? Probably because one way they try to save their marriage is through a night away in a hotel, which results in an uncomfortable sex scene that features SOME nudity.
No word at this point on whether or not they'll cut the film down to get that R-rating.
We're thinking the best move might be to cut it down, and then release the NC-17 cut on DVD & Blu-Ray.
Do U think they should cut the film or not?
