Charlottesville Mayor Calls For Removal Of Confederate Statues!

no title

Good riddance!

As we reported, last week, a "Unite the Right" rally in Charlottesville against the removal of a Robert E. Lee statue in a nearby park resulted in the death of 32-year-old Heather Heyer when white nationalist James Alex Fields Jr. allegedly plowed his car into a crowd of counterprotesters.

Although the Charlottesville City Council voted this year to remove the statue and rename the location as Emancipation Park, a judge issued a temporary injunction in May preventing Virginia authorities from moving the Confederate symbol for six months.

However, Mayor Mike Signer (pictured above) is calling the shots, and he wants all the monuments — including the Lee effigy — to be gone!

Heather Heyer's Mother Tells Good Morning America She Has 'No Interest' In Speaking With President Trump

heather heyer mother condemns trump following press conference

Heather Heyer's mother couldn't be more disappointed in Donald Trump.

As you surely know, Susan Bro lost her daughter on Saturday after a car rammed into a crowd of counter-protesters at a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia. While Bro initially thanked POTUS for condemning those who promote violence, she has since changed her opinion of the president following his controversial press conference this week.

Susan explained to Good Morning America's Robin Roberts:

"I hadn't really watched the news until last night and I'm not talking to the president now, after what he said. It's not that I saw somebody else's tweets about him, I saw an actual clip of him at a press conference equating the protesters … with the KKK and the white supremacists…. You can't wash this one away by shaking my hand and saying, ‘I'm sorry.' I'm not forgiving for that."

Hear! Hear!

Although POTUS and his team have reached out to Susan on a number of occasions, Susan feels this outpouring of support is simply a part of a "political agenda" and she is "resistant to that." Now that Susan has laid her daughter to rest, she hopes to "forward Heather's mission." We're sure Heather would be so proud of her mother.

Heather Heyer's Parents Preach Forgiveness At The Charlottesville Victim's Memorial Service: 'You Just Magnified Her'

Heather Heyer may be gone, but she won't be silenced.

That's one thing the mother of the 32-year-old — who was killed on Saturday when a car plowed into a crowd of counter-protesters at Charlottesville's white nationalist rally — made clear at the activist's memorial service.

On Wednesday, Susan Bro received a standing ovation as she assured mourners Heather's death only "magnified" her voice — and that continuing to have dialogues is the only way to "carry Heather's spark through."

She told the crowd of over 1,000 people:

"They tried to kill my child to shut her up — well, guess what — you just magnified her… I want this to spread, I don't want this to die. This is just the beginning of Heather's legacy."

The memorial was held Wednesday morning at Charlottesville's Paramount Theater and attended by many including Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe and Sen. Tim Kaine.

Bro revealed that a public memorial is what her daughter would have wanted, adding Heather "had to have the world involved [in her death], because that's my child. Always has been."

The Charlottesville native encouraged attendees to make Heather's death worthwhile by continuing her fight in advocacy for equal rights. She explained:

Charlottesville Car Attack Victims Sue Driver & Organizers For $3 Million

The fallout continues…

As we reported, James Alex Fields Jr. was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and malicious wounding after he allegedly plowed his car into protesters injuring 19, and killing 32-year-old Heather Heyer at a demonstration in Virginia on Saturday.

On Monday, Tadrint and Micah Washington – who were in the car that Fields rammed into — are suing him, rally organizers (including David Duke, Richard Spencer, and Jason Kessler), and other white nationalist organizations for assault and battery, and civil conspiracy and negligence.

They are seeking $3 million in damages.

Tadrint and Micah — who suffered injuries as a result of the crash — say they were not tied to any protest group at the time of the event, and were simply trying to head home.

We wouldn't be surprised if there are more lawsuits against the alt-right in the future.
