44-year-old rapper and actor Heavy D unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday after collapsing in front of his Beverly Hills home.
The cause of death has not yet been determined, but it is likely to be “medically related.” Despite famously losing 135 pounds in 2003, sources are reporting that he weighed 344 pounds when he died.
The artist rose to fame in the 1980's and 90's as the frontman for the hip-hop group Heavy D & the Boyz, responsible for the monster hit Now That We Found Love.
Although he wrote and performed music throughout his entire career, he was bitten by the acting bug in the beginning of the new millennium. He had recurring roles on television including The Tracy Morgan Show and Boston Public, but most recently had a part in Brett Ratner's newest film, Tower Heist.
We'd like to thank Heavy D for the wonderful music over the years and send our condolences to his family. He'll definitely be missed and we hope he can rest in peace!
