Heavy D passes away

So sad!

44-year-old rapper and actor Heavy D unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday after collapsing in front of his Beverly Hills home.

The cause of death has not yet been determined, but it is likely to be “medically related.” Despite famously losing 135 pounds in 2003, sources are reporting that he weighed 344 pounds when he died.

The artist rose to fame in the 1980's and 90's as the frontman for the hip-hop group Heavy D & the Boyz, responsible for the monster hit Now That We Found Love.

Although he wrote and performed music throughout his entire career, he was bitten by the acting bug in the beginning of the new millennium. He had recurring roles on television including The Tracy Morgan Show and Boston Public, but most recently had a part in Brett Ratner's newest film, Tower Heist.

We'd like to thank Heavy D for the wonderful music over the years and send our condolences to his family. He'll definitely be missed and we hope he can rest in peace!

He left the world too suddenly, but he leaves behind a legacy of music and inspiration that will live on.

Before Heavy D passed away, he tweeted some words of wisdom that we hope will bring some inspiration to those who loved and knew him best.

Earlier yesterday morning, mere hours before he collapsed and was rushed to the hospital, Heavy D took to his Twitter to suggest his followers "BE INSPIRED!" and follow that motto every day. The day before that, he offered another sentiment, posting:

"Never stop believing.. Magic is just science we don't understand.. Every original idea was considered insanity at first.."

Clearly, he had a real love of life and making each day count. We just with he had gotten more time to do so.

To you, Heavy D! You'll keep on inspiring people, even when you're gone!

Very sad.

Fans of 90s rap music are feeling a great loss today as the legendary Heavy D died earlier this afternoon.

Heavy D was rushed to an L.A. hospital around noon, after he was found unconscious on a walkway near his home in Beverly Hills. After 911 was called, Heavy was conscious and speaking, but was transported to the hospital for further testing. An hour later, he had passed.

Police do not suspect foul play, but they are investigating his strange and sudden death.

How heartbreaking. He had just performed at the BET Awards last month too. He looked fine. Just goes to show, you just never know.

Our condolences go out to his family, friends and fans.

R.I.P., Heavy D.
