This dog brought new meaning to "man's best friend" when he saved his blind owner.
Audrey Stone was crossing the street with her guide dog, Figo, in Brewster, New York. But, when a school bus was headed straight for them, the golden retriever's hero instincts kicked in.
The service dog threw himself in front of the mini-bus to protect his owner.
The bus still hit them both, but she and her pup are currently recovering.
Figo is in a splint after his leg was reportedly cut down to the bone, but he is "on the mend and doing extremely well," according to an employee at Middlebranch Veterinary.
Meanwhile, Audrey is being treated at Danbury Hospital for a broken ankle, elbow, and three fractured ribs.
We can't imagine what would have happened if Figo hadn't responded so heroically! We applaud his bravery and are glad he and Audrey are on the road to recovery!
