Twilight's Nikki Reed And Hayden Panettiere To Star In Bret Easton Ellis Thriller

nikki reed and hayden panettiere to star in bret easton ellis thriller

Twilight fans, Heroes fans, and Bret Easton Ellis fans rejoice! This one's got something for all of you!

Nikki Reed of Twilight fame and Hayden Panettiere of Heroes fame have both signed on to Downers Grove, a thriller written by Bret Easton Ellis.

The film is based on a novel by Michael Hornberg, which was adapted into a screenplay by Ellis. The rights to the book were acquired by Myriad Pictures.

The story is about a cursed high school student in Chicago who "suffers the peculiar death of a senior each year before graduation."

No announcement yet on which role the actresses will play, but most likely they'll play the two main characters: Chrissie, who's a senior in high school from a troubled home, and Tracy, her sexually adventurous friend.

Hmm…we CAN'T imagine which actress Nikki Reed will be cast as the sexually adventurous one!

Production on the film is set to begin in Spring of 2011 in Louisiana, and the film will be directed by Prom Night's Nelson McCormick.

Here's what Myriad Pictures' Kirk D'Amico had to say about the project:

"The combination of the thriller genre, a very popular and well-known cast, Bret Easton Ellis' dynamic screenplay and Nelson McCormick's incredible skill with young actors and ability to create tension and terror on-screen is just unbeatable."

We're def curious about this one. The Bret Easton Ellis factor intrigues us…and it'd be inneresting to see Nikki Reed flex her non-Twilight acting muscles.

Are U excited to see this thriller?

NBC Teams Up With NASCAR For TV Show

nbc developing nascar show

NBC is pretty smart for teaming up with Nascar and snagging their plentiful fans!

Nascar and NBC are working together to develop The Crew, which is a drama about a family of brothers on a NASCAR racing team who lead very different lives, but must band together to win races and be #1.

The show is being developed by Heroes writer/producer Joe Pokaski, as well as Scott Stuber, a producer at NBC Universal.

The major difference between this project and NASCAR-themed TV projects in the past is that NBC is actually working on the show with Nascar. They're currently talking with the company to gain the rights to all of their names, logos, tracks, and race footage.

We're not the biggest of Nascar enthusiasts ourselves, but we'd imagine there must be boatloads of Nascar fans out there who are jumping for joy about this announcement!

Sylar's Pissed There Won't Be Any Heroes Movie

Never say never, BB! But it's certainly not happening anytime soon!

Zachary Quinto really made a name for himself in NBC semi-hit show Heroes and according to a new interview, he's kinda put off that he'll never get to play Sylar again. There was some talk there for awhile that there might be a TV movie, but that got the kibosh once everyone realized the six-feet under ratings were the reason the show go the axe to begin with.

Still, it would have been nice and Zac totally would have been game. He says:

“It’s disappointing that there was such a lack of resolution. But unfortunately that’s just the nature of network television….Nothing really surprises me in terms of network and studio bureaucracy. It’s the way it goes. If it was in their best interest I’m sure they would have done it. And for whatever reason, they didn’t think it was. So that’s a bummer. But we have to just accept it and move on.”

Whomp, whomp!

P.S. - We're blaming Hayden Pain-In-The-Ass for this one. Call it intuition, but we think that uppity bitch had something to with the show's demise.

Heroes Movie NOT Happening

heroestvshowe.jpg

We can only hope and pray that the Arrested Development movie doesn’t suffer the same fate!

The news of Heroes’ impending cancellation was announced last May, but fans saw some light at the end of the tunnel, as reports had arisen about the possibility of a Heroes movie.

Alas, the reports were wrong, and the Heroes movie is NOT happening. Here’s what show creator Tim Kring had to say on the subject:

“No decision has been made, but the Heroes brand is an extremely broad premise. It was a premise about ordinary people, an undisclosed number of people all over the world, who were waking up to these extraordinary abilities. Any number of stories could happen around that. We never posited a single ending or a single premise. It wasn’t about getting off of an island or stopping something from happening. We told stories in volumes that had a beginning, a middle, and an end. Those volumes could go on and on and on with many different characters. As a result, that Heroes universe is something that can be tapped into again in many ways.”

Looks like there MAY still be more Heroes in our future…just not in our immediate future, AND certainly not on NBC.

Would U like to see more Heroes in the future?

Heroes Sued!

heroes-1453jb.jpg

Ugh! And here we were thinking that we would never have to think of that shiteous show again now that it's been officially cancelled!

Comic book artist Jason Barnes has filed a $60 million lawsuit against NBC because he claims that a storyline on Heroes was a direct rip off of one of his works!

Barnes alleges that the show's story involving a travelling carnival in the last season is identical to his comic Jazan Wild's Carnival Of Souls!

The lawsuit states:

"The settings and the storylines are virtually the same. The main character in both stories leads a carnival of lost souls and outcasts. This dark character seeks to make his carnival more powerful by recruiting new members with special abilities. The appearance of some of the characters is also virtually identical to those in the plaintiff's books… Even the dialogue is similar. Indeed, some of the scenes in Heroes appear as if the plaintiff's books were used as storyboards by the defendants."

Wow! Seeing as we - and everyone else, for that matter - did not watch the show after the first season, we have no idea whether or not this has any validity or not!

We wouldn't be surprised if producers stole it, though! They probably did just to see if anyone would watch the crapfest long enough to pick up that it wasn't an original idea!

What do U think?? Does Barnes have a legit case on his hands??
