Nickelodeon Star For Straight But Not Narrow!

Filed under: TV NewsGay Gay GayInspirationYoung HollywoodLGBT

So unbelievably cool!

Check out this very important message from Nickelodeon star Avan Jogia and the Straight But Not Narrow campaign (above), which focuses on straight men learning to accept and support their homosexual male friends!

Like he says:

"It doesn't make you any less of a man or make it look like you're into men if you're friends with a man who is into men!"

Such a simple, powerful message that we think many could learn a thing or two from!

Thanks for taking a stand, Avan! We appreciate the support!

Such an inspiration!

Rutgers To Try New Gender Neutral Housing Program!

Might not be an accurate picture

This is pretty fab!

Rutgers University New Brunswick campus is going to try a gender neutral housing program for three dorms to help spread equality!

We're sure some people will have a problem with this, but the reasoning is so pure!

Here's what it's about:

Starting this fall, gay, lesbian and transgender students at Rutgers University's New Brunswick campus can choose either male or female roommates under the pilot program.

Heterosexual students will also be permitted to live in rooms with students of the opposite sex. Men and women will share bathrooms.

So great! This is DEF a way to make people feel more comfortable and welcomed!

And hey, if people have a problem with it they can go live in the usual type of housing elsewhere on campus! The new initiative isn't replacing all standard housing.

We're curious to see how this works! We bet it'll be great!

We wish you the best Rutgers, and your students!! We're so excited for you guys!

Austrian Dancing With The Stars To Feature Two Men Dancing Together!

YES! It is seriously about effing time!

The Austrian version of the hit reality competition Dancing With The Stars will be the next edition to feature same-sex dance partners, as gay TV celebrity Alfons Haider - which many believe to have inspired Sacha Baron Cohen's Brüno character - will be dancing with castmember Balazs Ekker!

He revealed:

"I am going to dance with a heterosexual. This is not about being gay. I do not want my appearance on the show to be reduced to homosexuality. This is about the show, about entertainment. I am not the gay Joan of Arc."

Absolutely amazing! And the exact attitude that we like to hear!

Ekker also revealed that neither men will be comprising their masculinity to conform to the male/female roles as partners, and explains:

"There is no 100 percent answer to this because no one has done this before. But there is no way I am going to don a skirt and stockings to give the impression we're normal."

You guys are making history here! It's about time that this happened in US - and STAT!

We're so thrilled for you both, and cannot wait to see you how do in the competition!

Same Sex Kissing Is Popular Among Straight Men In The UK

soccer players kiss after a goal

Straight boys kissing??? Well, in Universities and high schools in the UK it's common for straight men to kiss.

Researcher, Eric Anderson, a sociologist at Bath University, said that there has been a move toward a "nicer, softer" ideal of masculinity.

In a study of 145 British university and high school students Anderson discovered that 89% had kissed a male heterosexual friend on the lips at some point. These boys all identified as heterosexual and did not think of the kissing as sexual.

This trend of same sex kissing has skyrocketed, most likely starting on the professional soccer field where players often share kisses after goals. This made kissing between men more acceptable for college and high-school players and now it's spreading to those non-athletes.

And although it also turns out that these kisses often happen during a night of drinking, the men aren't ashamed or question their sexuality.

Anderson explained in his findings that growing acceptance of same sex kissing doesn't mean that homophobia is gone, just that masculine ideals are changing.

We're totally ok with this, and that the "macho" sense of being a tough guy is slowly disappearing!

Do U think it is likely same-sex kissing will become more popular in the States soon?
