Sir Ian McKellan Played Babysitter On The Hobbit Set!

Ian McKellan donned the pointed hat once again to play the wizard Gandalf in The Hobbit.

But he wore a new hat as well- babysitter!

Costar Martin Freeman was separated from his wife and two young children while filming in Middle Earth New Zealand for 18 months.

But when his fam did visit, they got quite a treat!

The Hobbit is coming in just a month, with it's follow up coming the next couple years. So it's about time we met the brand new fellowship from the Lord Of The Rings prequels, whose journey we'll be invested in for quite some time!

A new series of one-sheet posters shows us some old friends and some brand new faces- well, parts of faces that aren't covered by beards!

The newest TV spot for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (above) gets us amped to revisit the beautiful and fantastical world that Peter Jackson created from J.R.R. Tolkien's words.

With amazing visual affects, a great cast, a crazy cool set and timeless source material to draw from, we have no doubt that this will be an epic movie watching experience.

The Hobbit: You Won't Have To Pay Extra For 48FPS!

This is good news for all us nerds out there — Peter Jackson's super special edition of the upcoming Hobbit movies won't cost you any extra to see!

The kicker is that you'll have to find one of the FEW theaters that can actually project it, though!

Here's the thing about 48fps: people aren't really liking the footage so far. This is because we're alllll used to the standard 28fps, which gives us motion blur and that "movie" quality that we all know and love.

When we climb to higher frame rates, things become super smooth and realistic looking, that it almost doesn't look like a movie (or what we feel is a movie) any more!
