Utilize Holiday Leftovers For Healthy Meals

Thanksgiving dinner and many more upcoming holiday meals are near, but that's no reason to fear gaining any weight before the new year!

According to Dian Griesel, Ph.D., and Tom Griesel, authors of the new book TurboCharged: Accelerate Your Fat Burning Metabolism, Get Lean Fast and Leave Diet and Exercise Rules in the Dust, dieters can utilize leftovers by using turkey in lean recipes.

The health experts suggest using ingredients found in your traditional meal to make great low fat and low carb meals, saying:

“Instead of stacking turkey on slices of white bread that only contribute to weight gain make a big pot of turkey vegetable stew that fuels your body to burn fat and stay satisfied at the same time.”

While it's okay to pig out on holidays, the authors also encourage you to stick to your dietary plan, despite all of the temptations you'll encounter throughout the next few weeks, explaining:

“Just because you were overeating on Thanksgiving, it doesn’t mean you must gain weight over the holidays. Your goal of reducing body fat and toning muscle between now and New Year’s Day is still realistic. But have a plan. Remember that many people enjoy their Black Friday shopping sprees because they started planning where to shop weeks beforehand, and kept a list of different stores to hit if the first store didn’t have what they were looking for. Similarly, you can plan to stay in shape—or even better, improve your body and health so you show up at holiday parties looking extra-spectacular. One day of overeating doesn’t mean you stay down and out. Keep on with your goals!”

Amen to that! Check out the Griesel's recipe for turkey vegetable stew below, which sounds like a perfect way to recycle your leftovers!

Watch Out, Apple Stores! Burglars Have It Out For You!

Filed under: Tech TalkSad SadBusiness Blitz

burglars targeting apple stores

Guess people REALLY want those iPads…

According to Special Agent J.J. Klaver in Philadelphia, PA, the FBI is currently assisting with Apple Store burglary cases all over the country.

Locations that have been affected include Connecticut, Virgina, and Chula Vista, CA, where a security guard fatally shot an armed burglary suspect on Monday.

So is Apple doing anything to counter these attacks? Here's what Lt. Walt Miller of the Evesham Twshp, NJ Police Department had to say about it:

"They do try to increase their security as best they can with alarm systems, security guards and the thickness of the glass."

More from technology consultant Richard Doherty of The Envisioneering Group:

"They have electronic serial numbers in the mobile phones and the Wi-Fi iPads so whenever and wherever they are turned on in the world, they will know where they are. The thieves may not be aware of that."

At least they're making the effort. Hopefully they'll step up their game even more by the next Holiday season.

We'd hate to hear of any more violence related to Apple Store break-ins. So sad and SO unnecessary.

new update for ipads released

This has been quite a day for Apple!

First, the iPad was named Oprah's #1 Favorite Thing Ever, and now a major update for the device is being released today!

Here are some of the new features included in Apple's iOS 4.2 update:

- multitasking support

- folders

- a unified inbox

- a Game Center

- AirPlay software, which will allow iPad content to be streamed wirelessly to Apple TV devices and supported printers

- Free access to "Find My iPad" feature

Here's what Apple CEO Steve Jobs had to say about the iPad update:

"iOS 4.2 makes the iPad a completely new product, just in time for the holiday season. Once again, the iPad with iOS 4.2 will define the target that other tablets will aspire to, but very few, if any, will ever be able to hit."

Pretty cool! We bet Oprah can hardly contain herself right now!

Are U excited for your iPad to become even cooler?
