Are you KIDDING us, Asante Samuel??

You seriously think that straight people don't flaunt their sexuality constantly (have you ever seen television, a music video, or heard college students talk??), and that just by coming out (which a lot of the time means having had to hide) is FLAUNTING being gay?? We can't even believe you said something like this!

UGH!

The Atlanta Falcons cornerback told FOX Sports Radio that he doesn't understand why gays have to 'flaunt' their sexuality after being asked about Jason Collins' major reveal.

Here's what he said (and more, above):

Filed under: Gay Gay GayLove LineKatie CouricDr. PhilFootball

Jeez! Things just keep getting weirder and weirder in the Manti Te'o scandal!

First, his interview with Katie Couric really only raised more questions.

Then, Dr. Phil interviewed the mastermind behind the whole hoax, Ronaiah Tuiasosopo. He found that he was a very confused young man who had fallen deeply in love with Manti.

Now we've seen more of the interview and we barely even scratched the surface of how confused Ronaiah was!

Experts Challenge 'Successful' Gay Conversion Study

Gay conversion

A study published in The Journal of Sex and Marital Therapy that concludes some people can change their sexual orientation after undergoing years of a ministry program is (not surprisingly) being challenged by other researchers.

The study was designed by two psychologists working at religious universities who followed 65 participants between 6 to 7 years as they attended Exodus Ministries, a religious program for “individuals and families impacted by homosexuality."

The psychologists concluded that 23% of the people in the study were successful in changing their sexual orientation toward heterosexuality, while 30% turned toward chastity, 23% did not respond to treatment, and 20% just embraced their gay sexual orientation (any others were just left confused as a result of this "treatment").

Despite a 2005 declaration by the American Psychological Association that homosexuality was NOT changeable, the authors of the study wrote:

"The findings of this study appear to contradict the commonly expressed view that sexual orientation is not changeable."

These claims are not sitting well with other experts in the field of psychology.

Eli Coleman, professor and director of Human Sexuality at the University of Minnesota Medical School, was quick to point out:

“We’ve been through this over and over. You can get behavioral changes, but that’s not orientation change. You can get short-term behavioral change. It’s not sustained.”

Can you convince a person to deny their sexual urges? Absolutely. Can you change their actual sexual orientation? According to the APA, NOPE!

Dr. Jack Drescher, an associate professor of psychiatry at New York Medical College, noted the study could be confusing sexual identity and sexual orientation.

A person CHOOSES their identity, but can't choose their orientation. Basically, they can deny their orientation throughout their entire life or choose to embrace it!

He also also wisely points out:

“I think the authors have a bias and I have a bias. Everybody has a bias. That’s why we have accumulation of data – and that doesn’t support their data."

Couldn't agree more!

However, we can still take one look at the minimal results of 23% "converting" to heterosexuality and say those people chose DENIAL! That is their freedom to choose a sexual identity and we respect that, but PLEASE don't chalk it up to scientific fact.

Boo! High School Coach Fired Because He Is On Facebook Gay!

coach fired for being gay

This is bullshiz and as a society, we shoudn't tolerate it!

Mitch Stein, a California high school water-polo assistant coach, was fired a few weeks ago because of his sexual orientation.

Now, the former coach is giving the Charter Oak Unified School District EXACTLY what they deserve and has slapped them back with a discrimination lawsuit!

According to officials at the Whittier area school, Mitch was not fired because he was gay, but because he posted "offensive" photos on Facebook.

Oh that makes sense. Must have been some pretty bad photos then, right? Drinking? Drug use? Peen pics?

Nope! The photos in question were one of himself about to eat a corndog and another posing with a pair of drag queens.

The matter was brought to attention after the principle received an anonymous letter complaining about said photos and the cowardly author threatened to go to the school board if Mitch was not fired.

Mitch promised to have the pictures removed, but the damage was done and he was fired as a result.

"The reaction to that letter, in my opinion, was homophobic," the former coach said.

During a meeting the next day with Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources, Mitch was courteously reminded his termination was not due to his sexual orientation, but because of the allegedly offensive photos.

The mention of his homosexuality in the meeting tipped off attorney Brad Kane on the validity of the discrimination suit, explaining:

"When someone tells you 'Oh, by the way, we're not doing it because you're gay,' there's some question. It appears to be at this stage sexual-orientation-based discrimination."

Parents of students on Mitch's water polo team wrote letters of support for him to the school district. One parent, Kim Cory, calls him a "fabulous coach" who was very involved with his team. In fact, he even applied and received a grant for the team from Kohl's department stores.

As for those photos? She calls them "dumb", but emphasized they were NOT offensive and no grounds for termination.

A father who supported Mitch believes the photos shouldn't have been posted, but "the punishment doesn't fit the crime"

"Mitch shouldn't have had them up is what it amounts to," he said. "(But) poor taste in my opinion is not a reason to get fired. It's more of a reason for discipline."

So true! We wish Mitch the best of luck in his lawsuit and hope he gets the compensation he deserves!

Man Commits Suicide Years After Childhood Therapy To Prevent Homosexuality!

Filed under: Gay Gay GaySad SadFacebookMental HealthWellness

This is SO sad! It literally brings tears to our eyes.

At 5-years-old, a happy Kirk Andrew Murphy preferred to play with dolls over little plastic army men leading his mother to enroll him in a government-funded therapy program at UCLA designed to eliminate young children's "exaggerated feminine qualities."

The "therapy" instructed Kirk's parents to offer their child rewards for playing with boys' toys coupled with harsh physical and emotional abuse if he chose to play with girls' toys.

George A. Rekers, a doctoral student at the time who led the study, declared in an academic journal that the therapy had rid Kirk of any effeminate qualities and left him "indistinguishable from any other boy." Rekers then went on to a build a career of influence based on his premise that homosexuality can be prevented.

Unforunately for Kirk, Dr. Reker's hypothesis was wrong. Instead of preventing "homosexuality", he simply prevented that young child from living a normal life.

His brother and sister say Kirk was never the same after therapy, explaining on the verge of tears:

"It left Kirk just totally stricken with the belief that he was broken, that he was different from everybody else. He even ate his lunch in the boy's bathroom for three years of his high school career, if you want to call it that."

In 2003, their worst fears were confirmed when at just 38-years-old Kirk Andrew Murphy took his own life.

Of course, Dr. Reker does not see any correlation between his controversial therapy and Kirk's suicide years later, saying:

"That's a long time ago, and to hypothesize, you have a hypothesis that positive treatment back in the 1970s has something to do with something happening decades later. That would, that hypothesis would need a lot of scientific investigation to see if it's valid."

Kirk's mother, on the other hand, has finally seen the light, recognizing that the therapy may be blame for her son's death, explaining:

"I blame them for the way his life turned out. If one person causes another person's death, I don't care if it's 20 or 50 years later, it's the same as murder in my eyes."

Unfortunately, it seems that Mr. and Mrs. Murphy share just as much of the blame for ever enrolling their son in this disgusting program. Perhaps, however, there is something more despicable about a man preying on parent's fears to acquire test subjects for a ludicrous theory based on prejudiced beliefs.

We can only hope Kirk's unfortunate story stresses the importance to others that we NEED to accept people for WHO THEY ARE!

Love you child for who they are, not who society feels they should be. Please watch the video above to see the devastating effects of this truly disturbing "therapy".
