The pro wrestler has been a hot topic over the past 24 hours since he became the first active, openly gay athlete in WWE history, and earlier he appeared on the Today show to talk about his HUGE announcement!
While Darren appeared to be calm and cool when he casually came out in front of the cameras, he admits that he was terrified about his peers finding out about his personal life, but luckily he has been getting nothing but love from his fellow wrestlers!
We're making some HUGE progress in the world of sports!!
Earlier this year, NBA player Jason Collins came out to become the first openly gay athlete in a major sport, and now Darren Young has done the same to become the first openly gay wrestler in WWE history!!!
While at LAX, he was approached by a photographer who asked him if a gay athlete could succeed in the world of wrestling, to which he responded:
President Obama sat down with Jay Leno yesterday for a late night TV interview on The Tonight Show. And it might actually be one of the most interesting segments we’ve seen yet!
While the two discussed a myriad of topics, the TV host made sure to ask the commander-in-chief for his thoughts on Russia’s current anti-gay laws, to which the President responded PERFECTLY:
”I’ve been very clear that when it comes to universal rights, when it comes to peoples’ basic freedoms, whether you are discriminating on the basis of race, religion, gender, or sexual orientation, you are violating the basic morality that I think should transcend every country. I have no patience for countries that try to treat gays or lesbians or transgender persons in ways that intimidate them or are harmful to them.”
Ch-ch-check out President Obama’s complete response…AFTER THE JUMP!!!
Galas aren't just for actors and musicians! They're for athletes too!!
Last night marked the 28th annual Sports Spectacular Gala held in Century City, California, and some of the BIGGEST names in sports came out to play!
The night featured a memorial for the late Los Angeles Lakers owner Dr. Jerry Buss as well as an award ceremony for athletes such as US soccer superstar Hope Solo and Los Angeles Clippers point guard Chris Paul!
But the real guest of honor was none other than Jason Collins, who earned the title of Inspirational Athlete of the year for his decision to become the first active player to come out as openly gay in a major U.S. sport!
While Snoop Dogg Lion has always been vocal in his support of the LGBT community, he recently raised some eyebrows during a recent interview by offering a very limited perspective on the possibility of homosexuality being accepted by the rap and hip-hop community!
However, it appears that the Reincarnatedversion of Bob Marley has re-evaluated his perspective on the matter, and in a new interview, now asserts that with the continuous merging of so many genres in the music world, as well as the political and cultural progression toward acceptance and unity, there may very well be openly gay rappers and hip-hop artists much sooner than later!
The multi-layered performance began with the talented Chris Martin softly singing Yellow and ended with all three singers reminiscing on the best half-time shows of the past fifty years. The whole thing was seamless!
Check out the fun show (above) and share your thoughts in the comments!
P.S. We loved watching Bey's Formation in real time! Take what's yours, girl!
