Talk about stellar service!
Mariana Villarreal is a server at the Hooters in Roswell, Georgia, where customr Don Thomas is a familiar face.
But now, their relationship goes far beyond the typical bond between a waitress and a restaurant regular.
When Mariana found out the longtime customer had lost both his kidneys to cancer, she graciously gave up one of her own. And despite Don's dedication to this particular Hooters, he admits that he wasn't that familiar with her:
"Mariana had only been here a short time. I just barely knew her when she made the offer."
Then why would she donate such a vital organ to someone she didn't really know? For the young waitress, the thought process was simple:
"I said, 'Well I have two kidneys, do you want one of mine?'"
But even though the two were barely acquaintances, Mariana's decision to donate had a deeper meaning, since her grandmother had recently passed away due to kidney failure:
"I wasn't able to do anything for my grandma. If Don can live two more years, happy as he's ever been, that's fine with me. That's not up to me. I did my part, now it's God's turn to keep him alive."
The two went under the knife on Friday, and according the hospital report, both Mariana and Don are recovering just fine. And, doctors have said that you can live your entirely life completely normally with only one kidney.
Mariana's generosity certainly brings new meaning to putting the customer first!
