Alright - we don't know who came up with this concept and how, but we have two words to describe it…ADORABLE and GENIUS!
Apparently the sport is catching on in America, with the Rabbit Hopping Organization of America headquarters in Eugene, Oregon. Yet the sport's roots come from Scandinavia.
In Europe alone, there are more than 4,000 registered rabbit hoppers! DAYUM!
One of the largest competitions takes place in the Netherlands each year.
There are different events in the competition, such as long jump, high jump, and agility course. A Danish rabbit is the current world record holder for both the long jump, at 9.8 feet (3 meters), and the high jump, at 3.4 feet (one meter).
They even have a science for choosing what breed and age hops best! The dutch don't mess around!
However, once male rabbits reach six months old, they often become more interested in the scent of female rabbits than in jumping over a bamboo stick propped up by flower pots.
HA! Could you blame them?!
