Ricky Gervais Has Been Invited Back To Host The Golden Globes!

ricky-gervais-has-been-invited-back-to-host-the-golden-globes

We're not surprised in the least! In the end it's always going to come down to ratings, ratings, ratings!

Although Ricky Gervais caused a bit of controversy this year during his hosting gig Golden Globes and many have speculated that he would not be invited back for a third time, the comedian has revealed that in fact, just the opposite has happened - because his antics brought in some big-time viewership!

He explains:

"The ratings went up again, and the organizers asked me to consider a third year. [But] I don’t think I should. I don’t know what I could do better. I certainly couldn’t get more press for them, that’s for sure. You know me. Two seasons is enough. The response was staggering. It was discussed on every news channel and chat show for weeks. The weird thing is, the question is always, 'Did Ricky go too far?' And the answer is always, 'No.' I have yet to find anyone who was actually offended by it."

Exactly!

His sense of humor may not be for everyone, but it's not as though he pulled a fast one on producers!

Everyone involved should have been well-aware of what they were getting themselves into when he signed on for the job!

But we definitely agree with him! Two times is enough - get some fresh blood up there on stage!

Thoughts??

Alec Baldwin To Replace Keith Olberman???

msnbc-wants-alec-baldwin-to-replace-keith-olbermann

Wow. We certainly didn't see this one coming!

Sources at MSNBC are revealing that now that Keith Olbermann has been dropped from Countdown, the network is looking to find a suitable replacement - and are attempting to secure actor Alec Baldwin for the spot!

WTF?!

The insider explains:

"He's already part of the NBC family, has a huge fan base and is very respected for his long term passions for politics."

Another source continues:

"He's brilliant on camera and honestly cares about news and fighting for the rights of everyday people. Don't count him out. There was a time when everyone said Alec would never do a sitcom, only movies. Those same people are saying he would never run for office or host a political show."

Well, he's never kept his interest in politics a secret, and has even publicly discussed his potential interest in running for office, so we think that this might actually be a good fit for him.

But if it means leaving 30 Rock behind any time soon, then we'd be devastated!

Don't do it, bb! At least finish out the series before such a huge career shift!

We don't know what we'd do with Jack Donaghy!

What do U think?? Would U watch Countdown With Alec Baldwin??

Judd Apatow Bites Back At Ricky Gervais!

judd-apatow-vs-ricky-gervais-golden-globes-hosting-performance

We guess people are STILL sour about Ricky Gervais' recent hosting gig at the Golden Globe Awards!

Although a fair amount of celebrities have come to the support of the comedian, who shocked many with his brutal digs at everyone from Tim Allen to Robert Downey, Jr. at the awards ceremony, director Judd Apatow was surprisingly not too happy with the material, and bit back BIG TIME while hosting the Producers Guild Awards over the weekend!

He reportedly said:

“What did you think of Ricky Gervais? I didn’t like him. I thought he was mean. He had that joke about the guy on Lost. He said he ate everybody else. Let’s be honest — Ricky Gervais just lost weight. Even now he’s four pounds away from not being allowed to do a joke like that. Did he lose weight just to make fat jokes? You think that’s how mean he is?"

"I think (Charlie Sheen) he’s an OK target. The people at CBS have said as long as he shows up on time, knows his lines, he can do whatever he wants."

“(Gervais) says the characters were two-dimensional. Then he says he hasn’t seen The Tourist. So as a comedian, that’s not fair, is it? To make jokes about a movie you haven’t seen. I can’t do a joke about (Gervais’s movie) The Invention of Lying because I haven’t seen it. You haven’t seen it. None of us have seen it. So the joke would not work.”

"(Gervais) made a joke about Tim Allen who was standing next to Tom Hanks. Who looks good standing next to Tom Hanks? We all look like a piece of shit standing next to Tom Hanks. Warren Buffet would look like a piece of shit next to Tom Hanks. Tim Allen did 200 episodes of Home Improvement. He was in three of the highest grossing movies of all time. And his latest just crossed the one billion mark. Whereas The Invention Of Lying made $18 million dollars worldwide…leave Tim Allen alone.”

Damn! He really thought this one through, didn't he?!

As much as we can sort of see why everyone is so up in arms - some of the jokes definitely DID push the limits, albeit HIGHlariously - we definitely think that by continuing to talk about it, Ricky is just getting more press, and in the end, winning!

Seriously, though! We're shocked as to why so many people are shocked about this - did they really expect anything different from his material?

Whatevs! Time to let this one go, folks!

Live and learn! LOLz!

And This Year's Oscar Hosts Are…

Wow! This is certainly unexpected!

Sources close to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences have reportedly offered the Oscars hosting gig to both James Franco and Anne Hathaway, and it "looks like" they've accepted!

Holy shiz! They seem a little young, at least compared to the usual hosts, no?

But still EXCELLENT choices, regardless! And maybe it will help the Academy Awards garner more viewership!

What do U think?? Do U want to see James and Anne host the Oscars??

She's baaaack! (Quick! Make sure Mary Hart isn't looking!)

Nancy O'Dell, former Access Hollywood reporter, is returning to TV for a brand new gig on Oprah Winfrey's television network. Nancy will be hosting alongside Queer Eye For A Straight Guy star Carson Kressley on the new reality program Your OWN Show: Oprah's Search For The Next TV Star.

The show is a competition type program, where contestants compete in challenges to see who has the most potential to host their own show.

That's one way to fill up the spring programming line-up!

Congrats on the new job, bb!
