Tom Cruise Is In Talks To Star In A Remake Of The Mummy — Which May Be The Start Of An Avengers-Style Universe Of Monster Movies?!

no title

Not every studio is hopping on the superhero movie bandwagon!

It's been reported that to help launch its new era of monster films, Universal is rebooting The Mummy!

And according to Variety, Tom Cruise is in talks to star in the leading role!

Last summer, the studio assembled a team of Star Trek producer Alex Kurtzman and Furious 7 writer Chris Morgan to develop a multi-film universe where Universal's classic monster movie library can be resurrected!

The studio is trying to develop a Marvel or DC Comics style universe for its famous characters — but instead of Iron Man and Thor, it will be Dracula, Frankenstein's monster, and The Wolf Man!

So basically, Universal's answer to The Avengers films is the cast of Hotel Transylvania? LOLz!

As for The Mummy reboot, Cruise will reportedly play a major part in development of the revival. The plot is still under wraps (get it?) other than that it will be set in present day, not like the previous Brendan Fraser-led installments!

Are YOU excited for classic movie monsters to make their way back to the big screen?

Selena Gomez Gets Animated For The New Hotel Transylvania 2 Trailer — And Is That New Fifth Harmony In The Background?!

Welcome to the Hotel Transylvania.

We can't believe it's been three years since Selena Gomez led her animated monster movie to box office success, but it looks like she's gonna try to strike gold a second time!

That's because the trailer for the upcoming Hotel Transylvania 2 was just released on Wednesday, and it sees the return of Selena, Andy Samberg, Adam Sandler and most of the original main cast as all of the things that go bump in the night.

Interestingly enough, CeeLo Green is the only celeb who isn't coming back for the sequel; but Keegan-Michael Key is gonna be perfect as the mummy.

Plus, we also get to hear Fifth Harmony's new song I'm In Love With A Monster, which they recorded especially for the movie, during the first half of the video.

And don't forget — Hotel Transylvania 2 scares its way into theaters on September 25!

Ch-ch-check out part two of Selena's entrance to voice acting (above)!!!

P.S. What kind of food do you think the hotel serves? We're thinking monster-ella sticks and scary wine.

Sacha Baron Cohen Teases Anne Hathaway's Vajay Before Brave Wins GG's Best Animated Feature

OH YEAH!

He went there! He totally went there!

Whilst presenting the Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature, Sacha Baron Cohen joked about his Les Mis co-stars in true form.

But the best — by far — was his tease at Anne Hathaway for her lovely lil' crotch shot at the film's premiere.

Ch-ch-check it ouuuttt (above)!

Oh and yeah… Disney and Pixar's Brave took home the gold for favorite cartoon animated film.

Must SEE! Every Great & Mediocre Movie Of 2012 Squished Into Six Minutes! Ah-Mazing!

Life is short and free time is a precious luxury!

The icecaps are melting and the ocean is swallowing the beaches — why would anyone spend hours in a dark theater enduring epically long flicks like The Dark Knight Rises or Prometheus instead of soaking in rays of sunshine??

We LOVE movies, though!! What are we to do?!

Thankfully, someone out there feels our pain!

Ch-ch-check out a trailer mash-up of virtually every significant movie from 2012 (above)!

It's has all the films you enjoyed this year, a few you hated, and a plethora you never knew existed!

Not only is this genius mash-up totally seamless, but it's enlightening too!

R-Patz was in Hotel Transylvania? Whoa! We never realized, LOLz!

Now we don't need to go out and see it!

YAY! More time for naps!

Revenge Of The Argo! Claims The Number One Spot In The Weekend Box Office!

argo-number-one-box-office-top-ten

Even with the release of the much-anticipated Cloud Atlas, it seems that Ben Affleck's latest directorial effort, Argo, was able to find its way to the top of the weekend box office!

While the ambitious Tom Hanks flick landed third with $9.4 million, putting it behind the still-making-bank Hotel Transylvania with $9.5, it still fared better than Gerard Butler's surf flick Chasing Mavericks, which didn't even break the top ten with $2.2 million, and Chelsea Handler and Victoria Justice's new comedy Fun Size, which just made it into the 10 spot with $4.1 million!

Not surprisingly, in honor of Hallowee-kend, Silent Hill: Revelation 3D also managed to debut to some SPOOKY SCARES, making it to five with $8 million!

We'll see if it can hold its momentum next weekend once the holiday passes, though!

Sorry, Tyler Perry! Paranormal Activity 4 Takes Box Office Throne From Alex Cross!

paranormal-activity-4-tops-box-office-weekend

But to be fair, the folks behind Alex Cross should have known better!

Despite the fact that Tyler Perry - who for the first time is headlining the flick without any other involvement - is known to pull in big bucks at the box office, even HE could not challenge the money-making Paranormal Activity franchise's fourth installment!

The found-footage horror flick came in number one in its debut weekend, making $30.2 million alone, while Argo shot up to two with $16.6 million, Hotel Transylvania with $13.5 million, and Taken 2 down with $13.4 million!

This, of course, left Alex Cross with - to be fair - a decent $11.8 million, but proved that beyond Perry's core audience, no one was too innerested!

And why would they be?!

It's Halloween season, after all!

And between Paranormal Activity and Sinister for adults, and Frankenweenie and Hotel Transylvania for the kiddies, there just doesn't seem to be too much room for anything else!

Better luck next time, boy!
