The Tony Awards Got Political This Year — Watch The Biting Commentary HERE!

kevin spacey dresses as bill clinton at the tonys

This year's Tony Awards wasn't afraid to get political.

We can't say we're shocked to report this as the award show's host Kevin Spacey is pretty familiar with the world of political corruption as he plays Frank Underwood in the celebrated Netflix series House Of Cards. While the musical performances and the inspiring acceptance speeches were the stars of the evening, some of the political moments at the Tonys stole the spotlight.

Not only did Spacey enlist Robin Wright's help to bring their HoC characters to life on stage, but the A-lister also dressed as Bill Clinton and made some email related jabs at Hillary Clinton's expense. Oh, and you don't want to miss Stephen Colbert's latest mocking of Donald Trump!

Joe Biden was also in the audience at the Tonys as his wife, Jill Biden, introduced the cast of Bandstand for their musical performance. Unsurprisingly, the former second lady got a standing ovation during her appearance.

Catch the political highlights from this year's Tony Awards (below). Enjoy!

5 Times The Trump Administration Was Scarier Than House Of Cards!

Filed under: TV NewsPolitikDonald TrumpKevin SpaceyEmmysNetflix

"The road to power is paved with hypocrisy, and casualties."

That's just one of the countless lessons in ruthlessness we've learned from watching Frank Underwood climb to the top of Washington in the Emmy-winning series House Of Cards.

The acclaimed Netflix drama has returned for its fifth season this week, and Kevin Spacey's merciless President couldn't come back at a better time for Americans.

Mostly because we're living under the rule of President Donald Trump — who, while not nearly as cunning as Frank Underwood, is apparently just as sinister and hungry for power.

Underwood has committed some frightening acts over the course of the series so far — murder, domestic surveillance, and starting a war to name a few — but he still isn't quite as terrifying as the real life nightmare that is the Big Cheeto.

See the eerie parallels between the ultimate political anti-hero and our actual POTUS (below)!

House Of Cards

While hinting at a presidential victory for the bad guy (sound familiar?), Frank says of his disdain for the American people:

"The American people don't know what's best for them. I do. They're like little children, Claire. We have to hold their sticky fingers and wipe their filthy mouths, teach them right from wrong, tell them what to think and how to feel and what to want. They even need help writing their wildest dreams, crafting their worst fears. Lucky for them, they have me."

Is Stranger Things Netflix's Biggest Hit?? Find Out The Top 20 Most Watched Shows HERE!

no title

Netflix has been cranking out some groundbreaking television over the past few years, but not even they could have predicted the success of the summer sci-fi original Stranger Things!

Since the streaming service likes to keep its ratings data in the Upside-Down, it's hard to know for sure just how big of a hit the supernatural series is compared to staples like Orange is the New Black or Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

But thankfully, data startup SymphonyAM claims to have tracked Netflix's ratings and released estimates that reveal just how popular each show is among streamers.

Using a smartphone app, the company indexed viewers for the latest seasons of each original series in the first 16 days of its release. While Netflix claimed the figures are "inaccurate," networks like NBC think this is the best available data to get a glimpse behind the curtain!

According to the data, Stranger Things is already one of the streamer's most watched shows. But where does the freshman series sit compared to House Of Cards or Fuller House? See the rankings (below)!

Make that money, Robin!

Robin Wright is currently starring in probably the most prominent role of her career, but for some reason she hasn't always been making the same salary as her costar.

The 50-year-old actress and Kevin Spacey have played husband-and-wife team Claire and Frank Underwood on four seasons of House of Cards, but it wasn't until the later years of the Netflix drama that they finally achieved equality.

But that's only because Robin had to literally threaten the streaming service into fixing their gender wage gap!

The three-time Emmy nominee stopped by the Rockefeller Foundation on Tuesday to chat about feminism in modern television, and ended up sharing her own personal battle with sexism, saying:
