Did Two Of Prince's Doctors Cross The Line & Contribute To The Singer's Fatal Drug Overdose? Here's What Police Are Working On Now!

Prince

It may be several months before we know exactly what led to Prince's fatal overdose back in April.

As the criminal death investigation rages on, TMZ reports three agencies — the FBI, the DEA, and the Carver County District Attorney's Office — are all working together to determine if two of the 57-year-old's doctors crossed the line with giving Prince access to drugs.

The medical professionals in question? We've told you their names before, physician Dr. Michael Schulenberg and addiction specialist Dr. Howard Kornfeld.

As a refresher, Schulenberg and Kornfeld's son Andrew were both present in the Purple Rain musician's home when he was found dead in his elevator after OD'ing on Fentanyl. Andrew had tons of synthetic opiates to treat addiction in his possession.

Since the tragic passing, Schulenberg has not been working at his clinic while poppa Kornfeld continues to practice at his Marin County, CA office.

If the state files charges against either or both of the doctors, the case will go to the District Attorney instead of the grand jury.

Woof. We're just hoping for some concrete answers sooner rather than later.

The Recovery Without Walls practice consultant remembered how he felt when he dialed 911, writing:

"Believe me, nothing can prepare a person to walk into such chaos and sadness. As I told the 911 dispatcher on April 21, those on the scene were distraught, which was why I was the one to place the call. But what happened has made me think, long and hard, about what steps we must take to prevent such entirely unnecessary loss of life."

His father, Dr. Howard Kornfeld, was scheduled to fly out to help the singer through his struggle with opioid addiction, but the hitmaker passed away the day before they were supposed to meet.

And while police are investigating the way in which the songsmith was able to obtain the fatal drugs that took his life, Andrew admitted that people who deal with chronic pain will do anything to "escape the agony," adding:

Police Investigating If Prince Died From Fatal Mix Of Drugs — Who Could Be To Blame?

Prince

Not long after Prince's passing was confirmed last month, it was revealed that the Purple Rain singer reportedly struggled with an almost decade long addiction to Percocet.

According to TMZ, police are investigating a possible fatal mix of drugs as the music icon's cause of death.

Although toxicology results have not yet been revealed, authorities have interest to see if the artist had a combination of Percocet and Buprenorphine in his system.

This could potentially explain why Prince's doctor Michael Schulenberg and the son of California rehab Dr. Howard Kornfeld, Andrew Kornfeld, were both present when the 57-year-old passed.

Schulenberg says he went to Prince's home to hand deliver test results, while Kornfeld says he was there to deliver Buprenorphine pills — which are used to treat opiate addiction — to the singer's local doctor. Hmm… Coincidence?

The outlet reports that medical experts say combining Percocet and Buprenorphine can be deadly as both drugs suppress breathing and can create a "dangerous synergistic effect."

If results show both drugs in the singer's system, both doctors will be questioned again to get to the bottom of who should be held responsible.

We'll let you know as soon as a toxicology report becomes available.

Prince Reportedly Promised His Inner Circle He Was Fine In The Days Leading Up To His Sudden Passing

Prince

As we know, Prince was an extremely private person — especially when it came to his health.

In a new piece by The New York Times, close friends to the music icon admit the late singer assured them "nothing was wrong" leading up to his tragic death at the age of 57 last month.

The Kiss singer reportedly told members of his inner circle everything was fine in the days after his private plane had to make an emergency landing due to a medical concern. At the time, Prince's reps told the media he was battling flu-like symptoms.

NYT says Prince proved to be doing OK as he organized a house party and rode a bike in a mall parking lot shortly after.

Additionally, the multi-instrumentalist assured his lawyer L. Londell McMillan not to worry as he was "doing perfect."

Wow, this is all so mysterious.

While most friends didn't notice a change in the musician, others say Prince admitted to feeling depressed.
