President Bill Clinton Endorses Marriage Equality Legislation In New York

Thank you, Mr. President!
Currently in New York, supporters looking to have marriage equality in their state are pushing for a vote this legislative session, which ends in June. The Human Rights Campaign is doing all they can to prove to the state Senate that this is truly something that the citizens of New York are after and something that the gay community of the state deserves to have.
In an attempt to achieve more of a positive response from the governing board, President Bill Clinton has come forward in support of the marriage equality legislation and has released the following statement:
"Our nation's permanent mission is to form a ‘more perfect union’ - deepening the meaning of freedom, broadening the reach of opportunity, strengthening the bonds of community. That mission has inspired and empowered us to extend rights to people previously denied them. Every time we have done that, it has strengthened our nation. Now we should do it again, in New York, with marriage equality. For more than a century, our Statue of Liberty has welcomed all kinds of people from all over the world yearning to be free. In the 21st century, I believe New York's welcome must include marriage equality."
Very well said! Very, VERY well said!
It's true - every generation has to bring about a change that coincides with the changes in their communities. Every person living in this nation deserves to be treated equally and fairly and really, that's all we're really asking for!
Equality for all! Get it done, NYC!
