German Tourist Reportedly Pays $60,000 To Kill One Of The Biggest Elephants Zimbabwe Has Seen In Decades

The elephant was supposedly over 50 years old.

Not another one.

On Friday, wildlife groups in Zimbabwe revealed that a German tourist paid top dollar to kill one of the biggest elephants the nation has seen in years.

According to reports, the hunter shelled out $60,000 to fatally shoot the giant creature, who was believed to be more than 50 years old.

Emmanuel Fundira, chairman of the Safari Operators Association of Zimbabwe, said the animal was murdered on October 8 just outside Gonarezhou National Park.

He explained that, because of the elephant's size, it shouldn't have been gunned down. Rather, he feels it should have been considered a "national treasure," saying it was:

"so huge its tusks were almost hitting the ground while it was standing. We have never seen any animal that big."

He added that humans need to stop being so casual about taking the lives of innocent wildlife:

"We need to discipline ourselves and hold such iconic things sacred."

A spokeswoman for Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority says the hunt was legal only if the proper paperwork was issued, and added that she was not aware of the incident.

Zimbabwe Conservation Task Force chairman Johnny Rodrigues is disgusted by the unnamed tourist's actions, commenting that the country hadn't witnessed an elephant that large in decades:

"The last time one was seen (of such size) was more than 40 years ago. The hunter should not have shot it."

It'll be interesting to see if this sparks the same kind of outrage that Cecil the lion's death did. What do U think, Perezcious readers?

Cecil The Lion's Killer Is Cleared — Zimbabwe Says Dr. Walter Palmer's Infamous Hunt Was Legal!

no title

One of the biggest stories of the summer may have finally come to a conclusion.

Walter Palmer, the infamous dentist at the center of the Cecil the lion killing back in Zimbabwe earlier this summer, has been cleared of any wrongdoing in the hunt.

Zimbabwe's Environmental Minister announced on Monday that Palmer was not doing anything illegal when he killed Cecil, and that the Minnesota dentist's papers were in order before the hunt began.

This comes after Zimbabwe officials had earlier hinted they wanted to potentially extradite Palmer back to the African nation to face charges over the hunt — but now, after being cleared by the government, it would seem a potential extradition obviously won't come.

What do U think — did Zimbabwe make the right call on Palmer? Or does he need to face punishment for killing a well-known lion in the manner he did??

Is This The Last We Will Hear Of Dr. Walter Palmer??

He's baa-aaack!

Ok, not quite… but Dr. Walter Palmer's dental practice is back open after being closed for a month and serving patients in Bloomington, Minnesota — even though Palmer is still in hiding!

The dentist, who infamously shot Cecil the Lion last month in Zimbabwe, has been out of the public eye ever since worldwide condemnation across the Internet and elsewhere pointed at him for his questionable hunting practices.

Now though, River Bluff Dental, the practice Palmer operates with another dentist and a staff of employees and assistants, has reopened — and staff has made a statement about their work:

Walter Palmer May Not Face Charges For Killing Cecil The Lion, But The Next Trophy Hunter Might — Here's Why!

no title

Walter Palmer may not be facing criminal charges — at least, in America — for killing Cecil the Lion, but perhaps the next hunter will!

That's because four Democratic senators announced on Friday that they are introducing a bill named after Cecil to to extend preventing importing and exporting animal trophies to include more species that are nearly endangered, like lions.

The senators, Bob Menendez (N.J.), Cory Booker (N.J.), Richard Blumenthal (Conn.) and Ben Cardin (Md.), believe that the Endangered Species Act doesn't go far enough to prevent importing senseless trophies of threatened species, and are seeking to amend that with the Conserving Ecosystems by Ceasing the Importation of Large (CECIL) Animal Trophies Act!

Senator Menendez said in a statement:
