When it comes to everything PETA does for animals, there is nothing more amazing than the direct help they provide to animals with their animal rescue vans.
During Hurricane Irene, PETA played an integral role in saving the lives of dogs that were just abandoned by their owners, left to face the 70 mph winds by themselves, in their outdoor crates.
During that rescue,

So, this is pretty strange.
Check out the video (above) of Mariah Carey missing out on an X Factor appearance due to Hurricane Irene, apparently.
While we would never hold that against her, why didn't gurl Skype in? She could have totally made this work!

Here's some exciting, happy news!
This weekend, there will be a dedication of the Martin Luther King Jr. monument on the National Mall.
Originally planned for late August, the event needed to be postponed because that b*tch Irene had a mental breakdown.

No pet left behind…
When it comes to natural disasters, a lack of preparation is the leading killer, second only to the disaster itself.
Most people don't realize, but preparing for a natural disaster takes some very special consideration if you have a pet.
The American Society for the Protection of Animals estimates that more than 600,000 dogs and cats have been affected by natural disasters this year alone. And that's not even factoring in hurricane Irene!
The ASPCA recommends owners create a specific pet emergency kit. It should contain things like water, pet food, bowls, collars and leashes, a pet first aid kit, copies of pet medical records and cleaning supplies.
Also, not every people shelter accepts pets, so owners should find a suitable nearby shelter for their ENTIRE family, pets and all.

Come on, Michele! It's a simple question!
Last week, we were pretty much disgusted by Michele Bachmann when she said that God is punishing us with Hurricane Irene because the U.S. government is "too large and intrudes too much on people's lives."
At the time, her spokeswoman said the comments were "in jest," but during an interview on Sunday when Michele was asked whether or not she believes that God uses the weather to send messages (above), she did NOT have a straight answer!
It's quite clear that Michele's comments about Hurricane Irene were NOT just "in jest," but they WERE just awful!
What do U think? Does Michele Bachmann think that God uses the weather to send messages???

This. is. adorable.
In Central Park Zoo, during the calm before Hurricane Irene, Truffle gave birth to a beautiful baby.
The baby lamb (pictured above), who was named Irene Hope, came out as a healthy, 8lb miracle.
According to Assistant Curator Susan Cardillo, baby lambs aren't usually born this time of year:
We don't expect a baby in late August. This is very unusual.
Aww, well we're so glad everything turned out well. Welcome to the world, Irene Hope!

Sebastian Bach's New Jersey home was destroyed by Hurricane Irene over the weekend.
A reservoir located on the other side of his home overflowed, which sent a bridge crashing into his property.
After losing all his personal items,
