Hurricane Irene Destroyed Sebastian Bach's Home

Sebastian Bach Loses Home

This sucks.

Sebastian Bach's New Jersey home was destroyed by flooding and damage from hurricane Irene.

"I am numb, in shock, & devastated to report that my home of 21 years … has been destroyed, condemned, & deemed uninhabitable," the rocker posted on Facebook Sunday along with a picture of the damage.

Bach's house was knocked off its foundation after a nearby reservoir overflowed, breaking the bridge next his home and sending it into his garage.

Lost in his flooded basement were irreplaceable items such as Skid Row master tapes, a KISS pinball machine and other band memorabilia, but it appears he'll be able to salvage the possessions he kept on higher floors in his home.

While Bach's house is no longer inhabitable, he says he knows that it could have been worse. "What makes me happy is that my children & ex wife are safe…No one got hurt."

Irene is being a total bitch. We're saddened by those who have lost homes, and those who have lost lives.

Safety is so important during these things, but sometimes there's just nothing you can do, and that's what's so terrifying. We hope those without power and those who have experienced loss can bounce back.

How Did The Situation Manage Hurricane Irene?

The Situation VMA Flight

Because we know you're all DYING to know!

While the rest of the Jersey Shore cast made their special flight to the VMAs, The Situation got stuck in Hurricane Irene traffic and couldn't make it.

He later tweeted:

I wish I could be at the VMA's but all flights were grounded because of the Hurricane. Sorry #SituationNation

We knew something had to be up when he didn't make a photo op!

Oh well, Mike. We think SituationNation made it juuuust fine!

Hurricane Irene Cancellations Send Broadway Box Office Sales Down

Broadway Hurricane

Broadway took a box office hit as Irene blew through, due to all the show cancellations.

The week’s gross went down 36 percent according to data from The Broadway League. Mainly because attendance was almost cut in half.

The Broadway League said all performances scheduled for Saturday and Sunday were cancelled due to:

“…suspension of public transportation, evacuations of many areas, closures of some highways and potential bridge closures by government authorities in preparation for Hurricane Irene.”

There were at least a few shows that did well despite the hurricane. One of them, The Book of Mormon, grossed 106% of it’s usual weekly, which was $786,459.

At least overall Broadway is still growing. Season-to-date they’re actually up $2,900,000; an increase of 1.1%. Yay broadway!

Hurricane Irene Death Toll Reaches 24

hurricane irene death toll reaches 24

So tragic and upsetting.

We've just learned that Hurricane Irene's death toll has risen to 24 people.

We're very disturbed by that number, given the fact that there were 14 reported deaths just yesterday.

It seems like we're past the worst of it, but we truly hope that nobody else loses their life due to this terrible hurricane.

We continue to send our thoughts and prayers out to everyone on the east coast.
