Three Months After Hurricane Maria, 45 Percent Of Puerto Rico Is STILL Without Power

no title

Are you listening, Donald Trump??

As the calendar readies for its turn to 2018 and we all collectively try to wipe away the truly shitty year that 2017 has been on SO many levels, you're well within your right to let off some steam (safely!) tonight and enjoy a celebration with friends, family, and loved ones.

But please, all of you — and especially our ridiculous Commander in Chief — need not forget about Puerto Rico, where people (American citizens!!!) are still suffering horribly from the after-effects of Hurricane Maria.

It's been three full months since the hurricane made landfall on the American island, and now, officials are saying 45 percent of the nearly 1.5 million customers there STILL don't have any power.

How is that possible in this day and age, and in THIS country???

A woman named Susan Tierney, an expert on this type of thing who testified before a U.S. Senate committee on restoration efforts in Puerto Rico recently, put it best in a new Associated Press report out today (below):

The people evacuating Puerto Rico don't have enough to worry about without being forced to choose between leaving and keeping their dogs??

Sylvie Bedrosian, president of Pet Friendly Puerto Rico, estimates at least 2,000 families had to leave their animals behind thanks to the embargo.

The limit is due to the government taking control of the cargo holds of planes going to and from the island in order to deliver more badly needed supplies. But Bedrosian points out that's only on the way TO Puerto Rico, not on the way back:

P.S. If you listen closely, you'll notice the lyrics are a rhyming arrangement of all 78 municipalities of Puerto Rico. So touching!

Bethenny Frankel is a Real Housewife of Humanitarianism!

The reality star has been busting her ass the past few weeks in order to aid the victims of Hurricane Harvey and the recent 7.1 magnitude earthquake in Mexico — all in the wake of getting diagnosed with skin cancer.

And even while recovering from skin cancer removal surgery, the Bravolebrity isn't taking it easy. Instead, she's on her way to Puerto Rico to help Hurricane Maria victims!

Taking to Instagram, the 46-year-old revealed she has chartered four planes leaving from Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and NYC to distribute thousands of pounds of supplies — including water, canned food, diapers, baby food, medical supplies, gift cards, and even cash!

Working in collaboration with Yieldstreet, Doctors4Puertorico.com, Fundacionhospitalpediatico.org, University Pediatric Hospitlal, Delivering Good, Global Empowerment Mission, and Feeding America, Frankel was able to make a miracle happen for the people of the U.S. territory.

This is especially life-saving at a time when San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz literally BEGGED for help for the island — and, in response, Donald Trump whined about her being "nasty" to him.

Thankfully, the relief we can no longer expect from the government is being supplemented by scrappy reality stars. Yes, that is the reality we live in.

We cannot applaud Bethenny enough for putting this together — check out her posts (below)!
