Of all the audacious and ridiculous things the Donald Trump campaign has done, this one might take the cake.
On Tuesday morning, Republican National Committee Communications Director Sean Spicer took to CNN to respond to questions about Melania Trump's plagiarized speech last night at the Republican National Convention.

Spicer, set on defending Melania from accusations that she copied Michelle Obama's 2008 speech at the Democratic National Convention, decided to invoke some previous examples of similar wording to prove that Melania didn't actually lift line after line from Mrs. Obama's speech.
OK, fine, he wants to defend his candidate's wife, sure — but it's the specific examples Spicer chose that are really raising eyebrows as this controversy storms on for another day.
Kid Rock. John Legend. House of Pain. Public Enemy. Ice-T. Akon. (Akon!!!!) And… yes… Twilight Sparkle from My Little Pony.
We can't even make this stuff up.
Watch Sean Spicer try to assert that, because Twilight Sparkle (a cartoon character) once talked about dreams, that proves Melania Trump did not copy Michelle Obama… or something (below):
