It's always polite to give a nice gift to the host or hostess of any holiday party.
But with so many events to attend around the holiday season, that can become quite costly!
Luckily, Perezitos.com correspondent and party planning expert Amy Malin of True Heart Events has some great inexpensive gift ideas!

What is an appropriate and not too expensive gift to bring to a holiday party that my family is attending?

Happy Holidays! Here are some cost effective, festive and thoughtful gift ideas for your holiday party host:
#1 If you're attending a family holiday party, frame a beautiful photo of you and/or your kids to gift. Grandparents especially love this sentimental gift.
#2 If you're attending an adults only holiday party, wine makes a great gift. You can purchase nice bottles of wine that aren't expensive. I'm personally not a drinker, but many of my celebrity clients love The Naked Grape which they say tastes great and is very affordable. It is even sold at grocery chains such as Ralph's.
#3 If your host has a canine companion, bring something cute for the dog, which is guaranteed to make the party host smile. I once brought a Santa hat for my friend's dog and she had a blast taking photos of all her guests with her dog in his red and white fuzzy holiday hat. You can buy these hats at drug stores or party supplies stores for between $5- $10.
#4 If your party host has a baby or kids, bringing a gift for their children will score major brownie points. Happy Baby/Happy Children Equals Happy Mommy & Daddy. For babies, buy a reindeer, Santa, snowflake, Menorah or any other festive designed onesie. So many stores sell them for between $5 - $12 dollars each, such as Babies R Us, Target, The Children's Place or Baby Gap.
#5 If you want to cook something for your holiday party host, steer clear of fruitcake. Your host won't want to offend you, but let's be honest, your fruitcake is either most likely going in the trash when you leave, being used as a paper weight/doorstop or being re-gifted to their boss. Make something that your party host will actually enjoy and could even serve at their holiday party if they'd like. Holiday cookies are festive, fun, cheap and take minutes to prepare. Get a holiday themed cookie cutter from your grocery store or at Bed Bath & Beyond for a few bucks and make your cookies in the shape of XMas Trees, Menorahs, stars, snowflakes etc. I'm obsessed with these yummy Vegan chocolate chip cookies by Eat Pastry. They are half the calories of ordinary chocolate chip cookies and they are delicious!
