Frito-Lay To Certify Snacks 'Gluten-Free'

Frito-Lay, one of the biggest names in snacks, launched an initiative that will have qualifying products receive a "gluten-free" label.

Lay's, Doritos, Ruffles, Tostitos and Sunchips plan to develop a gluten-free validation process that will allow them to use the gluten-free label.

The foods won't change or anything, they're just going to be tested to make sure they have the less than 20 parts per million of gluten that the FDA requires for something to be gluten-free.

They're joining other companies like Dominoes who recently unveiled a gluten-free crust for their pizzas!

This is all good for people with Celiac disease, which is a digestive disorder triggered by gluten that damages the lining of the small intestine.

Way to think about your consumers!

Obama Announces Global Food Initiative!!

Obama Food Plan

YEAH! That's the kind of thing we like to hear!

Obama is on a roll with his humanitarian and equality announcements!

He just unveiled a new food initiative aimed at increasing food security in developing African nations and lifting 50 million people out of poverty over the next decade!

Here are some of the things he said during the G-8 summit kickoff:

"The government cannot and should not do this alone. This has to be all hands on deck. Reducing malnutrition and hunger around the world advances international peace and security. As the wealthiest nation on earth, I believe the United States has a moral obligation to lead the fight against hunger and malnutrition. We have a self-interest in this. It's a moral imperative, it's an economic imperative, and it's a security imperative."

Apparently more than 45 private sector companies have pledged $3 billion to kick it all off! Its called the New Alliance for Food Security and Nutrition, aims to build on a 2009 food security effort that resulted in $22 billion worth of pledges — which seems worthy enough to give another go!

He went on:

"Communities can't go back just to the way things were - vulnerable as before, waiting for the next crisis to happen. A change in prices or a single bad season should not plunge a family, community or a region into crisis. We can do this. We're already doing it. We just need to bring it all together. We can unleash the change that reduces hunger and malnutrition. We can spark the kind of economic growth that lifts people and nations out of poverty. This is the new commitment that we're making."

This is all extremely inspirational to us. We're so happy to hear people of power talking this way!

Let's hope it all works out out out!
